Welcome to Global Voice

November and December have seen many notable events, such as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Human Rights Day and the annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. As we move forward with hope and continued determination to better the lives of women and girls, this edition of Global Voice celebrates International Day, and the Soroptimist International President's Appeal 2017-2019 'Women, Water and Leadership'. Bringing you a report from COP23, and the latest news from SI's UN Representatives in 'Your Voice at the UN', we begin by inviting you to watch a very special video message, from SI President, Mariet Verhoef-Cohen.

SI President's Message

At this time of year, we pause and reflect on the challenges and successes of a year gone by, and look forward to the opportunities and promise of the year ahead. Watch a video message from SI President Mariet Verhoef-Cohen to Soroptimists around the world.

International Day and the SI President's Appeal 2017-2019 'Women, Water and Leadership'

Human Rights Day, observed each year on 10 December, is recognised as International Day by Soroptimists worldwide.

Each year, clubs support thousands of projects, each focusing on Educating, Empowering and Enabling women and girls. On International Day, SI President Mariet Verhoef-Cohen invited Soroptimists to harness their collective power in support of the SI President’s Appeal, 2017-2019, and help make a tangible difference to the lives of women and girls most in need.

International Migrants Day

18 December is International Migrants Day. The 2017 theme was Safe Migration in a World on the Move. Watch a presentation made by Ulla Madsen of SIE earlier this year, when she was a panellist at the side event ‘Safeguarding unaccompanied migrant minors from going missing’.
