SCHOOL FOR JUSTICE
The Free a Girl Movement has announced the opening of School for Justice, Mumbai, India. Supported by at least eight Soroptimist clubs in the Netherlands, the School for Justice and its forward-thinking programme, educates girls that are rescued from child prostitution, training them to become lawyers and prosecutors.

CYCLING FOR CYCLES - WOMEN'S ROLE IN MALARIA PREVENTION CAMBODIA
In a blog by Theresa Devasahayam, Dr Saradha Narayanan, Kerry Beer and Linna Khorn, we find out about the work of three Soroptimist clubs from Soroptimist International of South West Pacific - SI Singapore, SI Damansara and SI Melba, who support the crucial work of village malaria workers (VMWs) in Cambodia.

TOWARDS SAFE MIGRATION
At the UN, New York, a Declaration on Refugees and Migrants was agreed to by all 193 UN Member States in September 2016. SI UN Representatives in New York and Geneva have been attending the first Interactive Dialogues and Thematic Sessions on this topic. SWEDEN TO HOST LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
Soroptimist Nordic Leadership Academy (SNLA) is a week of intensive education in the principles of leadership and self-development for young women. It will take place on an annual basis during the summer vacation in a Nordic country on a rotating basis starting in Sweden, Öland 26 -30 June 2017.

ELDER ABUSE
Frances Zainoeddin, SI UN Representative, New York, has represented SI for one year, mainly following issues related to sustainable development and older persons. Frances is a member of the NGO Committee on Ageing and is involved in efforts to agree an international legal instrument to protect the rights of older persons. In the run up to World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Frances writes a blog for us on the issue of elder abuse.

During the Global Framework for Action to Cope with Water Scarcity in Agriculture, Partners’ and Stakeholders’ Meeting, held at FAO HQ in Rome, 19 - 20 April 2017, SI President-Elect and Women for Water Partnership President, Mariet Verhoef-Cohen was appointed Vice-Chair of the interim Steering Committee.
