"Our plans miscarry because they have no aim. When a man does not know what harbour he is making for, no wind is the right wind." ~ Seneca

Sadly, most people do not achieve their New Year resolutions. Some don’t bother setting any. Others get frustrated with themselves. And, a seemingly ‘lucky’ few will succeed.

Your inbox may already be filling up with well-meaning advice from all the so-called gurus at this time of the year. However, here are 3 practical things that I’ve found useful:

1. Limit the number of goals you set yourself. Unless you’re Superman or Wonder Woman there’s only so much you can achieve in a year. Yes. Have Big Hairy Audacious Goals for 3, 5, 10 years. However, in 2020 focus on the few goals that will bring you closer to these. If you find that your mind is busy with lots of things you’d like to achieve, create a Someday/Maybe folder where you can park aspirations and ideas. Get into the habit of writing things down. The worst place to try to keep things is in your head!

2. Stop doing stuff. When we take on too much we create the ’spinning plates’ phenomenon. This can lead to overwhelm and a sense that there’s never enough hours in the day. Also, lots of unfinished stuff drains energy and energy is essential to being able to achieve anything. So, decide what you’re going to stop doing in 2020. Some things can be parked for the future. Other things will require you to make tough choices. Trust me, you’ll feel better once you shed the load.

3. Learn to manage your brain. This wonderfully versatile organ can be our best friend. However, it can also be our worst enemy. You don’t need to become a neuroscientist to understand how your brain works. Make it your mission to optimise your brain in 2020.

There are many more tips you can test out to determine what works best for you. After all, we’re all unique and one size rarely fits all!

Make 2020 Your Best Year Yet!

In this annual seminar, I’ll be taking a small group of people through a structured process that will include how to implement the above tips. You can either attend the live seminar - click here - or get the online version - click here

Reset Your Compass

You can think of it as an opportunity to reset your compass. This means you start from wherever you are now... I'll guide you on how to get to where you want to be.

Either way, this is an opportunity to take some reflective time out, do some planning and find out what works best for you.

What if you attend?

The worst thing that will happen is that you’ll get clarity on what you want in 2020 and go through a proven methodology for achieving it. You’ll leave with an action plan so you can get the New Year off to a flying start feeling confident and focused!

The very special early booking prices for individuals and couples (bring your partner or a friend) expire tomorrow

As the old proverb states: "He who hesitates is lost.”

My friend asked me where I see myself in the new year.
How would I know? I don't have 2020 vision.

I was going to quit all my bad habits for the new year ...
... but then I remembered that nobody likes a quitter.

My New Year's resolution is to break my New Year's resolutions.
That way I succeed at something!

My New Year's resolution is to help all my friends gain ten kilos so I look skinnier.

My resolution was to read more so I put the subtitles on my tv.

I would lose weight for my New Year's resolution ...
... but I hate losing.

May all your troubles last as long as your New Years resolutions?
