GMC E-Blast
Dear Gonzaga Moms,
How fortunate are we to share yet another wonderful event?  The 32nd Mother-Son Celebration was a great day of family.  We were treated to a beautiful Mass in the great St. Al’s, a lovely lunch catered by Ridgewells and heartfelt and inspirational words by Landon Buckson and Helen Alvaré.  All of this while enjoying time with our sons and friends.  Thank you to Chairs Kristen Allen, Diane Begala, Mary Beth Jackson, and Alison Quatrini and their committee of fabulous volunteers for giving us a new Gonzaga memory.  And we could never have the Mother-Son without the help of the GFC.  Thank you to this year’s Chairs Brian Edwards, Tim Egan and Joe Young and all the dads who gave up their morning to come serve us.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Men for Others Diaper Drive.  We were able to donate over 7,000 diapers for families in need.  Many thanks to Valerie Jopeck and Ann Ourand for organizing and delivering the diapers and then leading the team to kick off the Mother-Son weekend by bundling diapers at the DC Diaper Bank.  Also, please continue to check the
McKenna sign up The hyperthermia shelter is drawing to an end but there are some cancellations.  We want to make sure we continue to support these men and the center.
The Ignatian Reflection & Prayer Group was blessed with great weather and a fantastic group of women for their retreat weekend. Martina O'Shea, who has been leading the monthly prayer group, led this retreat and Fr. Gap and Fr. Bill were able to join on Saturday afternoon to hear confessions and celebrate mass. The hospitality, accommodations and food at the Bishop Claggett Center were outstanding.  Plans are already in the works for next year’s retreat.
March 3rd brought an early morning for Maria Cindea, Kristen Kilguss and their team of moms who once again welcomed the faculty and staff to school with a wonderful breakfast.
Please join us this Wednesday, March 8 at 6:30pm for our next GMC meeting.  Our guest speakers will be Maureen Garvis and Andrew Shea, 2 of Gonzaga’s teachers. They will be sharing with us their summer stipend works, Foundations of Teaching for Learning and Gamification in the Classroom, respectively.  Come and hear how these teachers are engaging our boys.  We will also receive the always-informative monthly update from Father Planning.  Plan to come and grab a bite before the meeting as delicious refreshments will be lovingly prepared by Kasey Crowley, Kelley Paul and MaryBeth Powers.
Remember, next month brings the most loved day of the year, International Food Fair.  Lauren Malone, Stephanie McMahon and Michelle Pierpont are hard at work with all the details to delight our boys. Come and help out!  It is a great way to get inside the buzz of Eye Street.  ALL language students will receive extra credit for food donations.  We have gotten official word that the classics are included this year.
Finally, there are still spots available for the Class of 2018 Moms Night Out (April 20) and the Presidential Power Brunch (April 30).  Come join the fun and continue to support Gonzaga.  The hosts of these events cover the costs so your donation goes to support the school.  Check them out
I hope you all have a great Spring Break (March 20 – 24).  Enjoy some down time!

On March 4th, a group of Gonzaga Men for Others representing the classes of 2017, 2018, and 2020 (plus some siblings and Gonzaga Moms) went to the DC Diaper Bank to support the recent Gonzaga Diaper Drive. In less than two hours, these young men broke down mixed pallets of diapers, configured new pallets of wrapped diapers, cleaned and helped organize the warehouse, and STILL had time to bundle over 6200 diapers before they were done. Impressive work, guys!
