GMC March Newsletter

Dear fellow Gonzaga Moms,
Many thanks to all who were able to join us for the 31st annual Mother-Son Celebration on March 6th. This special day began with a beautiful Mass and music, a delicious meal, inspiring speakers, and a lovely time shared with our sons and friends.  Thank you to our fabulous Chairs, Mary Beth Jackson, Meghan McCaleb, and Mary Penny, and all of the volunteers who made this day special.  We particularly want to thank Andy Carluccio for his heartfelt tribute to moms,  Diane Donohoe for creating the beautiful invitation and program design, Denise Siciliano for website assistance with reservations, the students from WZAG and Conrad Singh for producing the charming video, and the Gonzaga Fathers Club Chairs, Brian Edwards, Tim Egan, and Joe Young, for coordinating the amazing team of dads to serve us in style!  The highlight of the program was having our own Gonzaga mom, Alice McDermott, share words of wisdom and reflections as a mom during her time at Gonzaga and beyond.  We have received many requests for a transcript of Alice's remarks, as well as a copy of the wonderful video created by the students for the moms.  We will post these, along with photos of the day on the GMC website soon.
Thank you to everyone who supported the 5th Annual Men for Others Diaper Drive. We were able to collect over 10,000 diapers, and it’s not too late to still contribute! Please see the information below to find out how to donate online or to sign-up to volunteer at the Diaper Bank on April 2nd.  A special thank you to Valerie Jopeck for organizing this collection for us. Thanks also to Maureen Bridgeland and Joanna Hoffschneider for hosting a lovely reception for the boys upon their return from the Kairos retreat.
Please don’t miss our GMC meeting this Wednesday, March 9, at 6:30 p.m.  in the Lower Commons. Father Planning will provide an update on all that is happening on Eye Street.  Our speaker will be Mr. Tom Every, Gonzaga’s  Headmaster.   Our awesome Hospitality Chairs Kristin Cunningham, Amy Ramirez, and Bernadette Walker will have some light dinner and beverages for us.
Please remember that 3rd Quarter Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, March 10 from 5 – 7 pm in Carmody Center.  Volunteers are needed to bring some snacks, so sign-up using the link below if you can help.

Looking ahead to April, which is just around the corner after Spring Break, we are preparing for the boys' favorite day of the year -- April 13th is the International Food Fair!  It is a great day for everyone, but we need many people to bring in wonderful foods and to help volunteer for the event.  Please see the information below for more information or contact Jessica Koenig, Paige Melville, or Susan Yano at
