The Village Is Open for Business:

Merchant Heroes

After the storm of a century left the Village without power for several days, some merchants opened immediately and even offered free food (Argo Tea, Bamboo Tori, Lenny's, Sticky's FInger Joint)

Others, including Agata & Valentina, C. O. Bigelow's, Lifethyme Foods, University Deli, Gray's Papaya, Stromboli Pizza, Tortaria and The Nut Box operated without power or purchased generators in order to serve the community. Saigon Market even let neighbors charge cell phones!  Thanks to all for helping us get back on track with much-needed provisions.

Outstanding Service

A special note of gratitude to Terri Howell, our Business & Community Services Manager, who patrolled the streets every day last week after the hurricane, making sure businesses knew how and where to get help.

We would also like to commend four members of the Village Alliance Clean Team, Miguel Quiridumbay, Jose Lliguschia, Momar Ndiaye and Alain Mvongo, who trekked hours to work on Wednesday in the absence of subway service to single-handedly clean debris and three days of garbage from every one of our 44 blocks.  Bravo for your dedication-- the neighborhood truly appreciates your service!
