MULCHFEST!
"Tree-cycle" your holiday tree into mulch that will nourish plantings across the city!

Join the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, the New York City Department of Sanitation , and GreeNYC  to recycle your Christmas trees into wood chips. Take home your very own bag of mulch to use in your backyard or to make a winter bed for a street tree .

More than 24,000 trees were recycled last year. Help the city top this number!  Click here for more information and for additional Mulchfest locations citywide.


THOUSANDS OF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED OVERNIGHT 1/28/2013

On Monday, January 28th, thousands of volunteers will again fan out across the five boroughs for the annual Homeless Outreach Population Estimate (HOPE). Through HOPE, the city can determine information about the number of individuals who are experiencing street homelessness, and continue to ensure that resources are effectively allocated to where they are needed most.
