<<First Name>>,

Have you ever thought about what your life would be like if you lived in a rural community, miles away from medical help?

In December, while all of our health promoters were in one central location for training, we were able to interview quite a few of them about their lives and what it looks like to serve in their communities. They all have a dream of seeing more people like you visit them and work alongside them. But, they also have other dreams. Dreams of a healthier community through clean drinking water and the self confidence to make an impact.

Ada Luz Romero is one of our health promoters and a new mother. Some days she walks almost four hours a day visiting patients. Despite the long, hard hours and having a little baby to take with her, she is very excited about the work she is doing with AMOS and for her community.

Hear about Ada Luz' life HERE.

Come Meet Ada Luz:

Do You Know How AMOS Began?

Our history began in 1966 when the late Dr. Gustavo Parajón, an AMOS co‐founder, returned to his native Nicaragua, and in his words, “Saw the terrible injustice of children dying of completely preventable illnesses in rural communities.”

Inspired by the Biblical call for social justice and service to the poor, he developed a bottom‐up approach to disease prevention and health promotion to empower rural communities to take health into their own hands. Building upon his work, AMOS was founded in 2006 with a passion to continue contributing towards health for all people, focusing especially on decreasing existing disparities in access to healthcare for the poor.
