<<First Name>>, do you remember Maykel?

Last year when we asked you to help us improve children's health in their First 1,000 Days of life, Maykel was in need of help.

When Tomasa Gomez Cruz, Maykel’s mother, heard that Healthy Moms, Healthy Kids (AMOS' Positive Deviance program) was starting in her hometown, she knew she needed to participate because not only Maykel, but also her second youngest son, Yilber, was screened and found to be malnourished.

As you have probably experienced in your own life, changing habits and behaviors takes time and perseverance. Tomasa knew her children needed a change, but had no way to take charge of the situation. However, because of her bravery to step out of her home with her two sons and participate in AMOS' program, Healthy Moms, Healthy Kids, changes are happening and are having a deeper and wider impact than we could have ever imagined!

At the beginning of the program Maykel could only move objects with his feet, but now he is moving them with his hands and arms!

Thank you for being a part of this life-changing work! Because of your support for the work AMOS is doing in rural Nicaragua, and because of the help of family and community members, Maykel and those closest to him are changing!
