Game Recaps

Friday night, the Portland Pro-Am playoffs kicked off with a play in game featuring Terrence Ross' Huskies and Terrence Jones' Team Takeover. Antoine Hosley and Tyrone White Jr. both scored 42 points for Team Takeover, while Terrence Jones had 28 points an 20 rebounds. Seth Tarver led the Huskies with 38 points and 10 rebounds. Team Takeover advanced to the playoffs, with a final score of 157 - 127.
Saturday's first game determined which team would play in the finals, as the number 2 seed Beaverton Soldiers faced off against the third seed, Vancouver Volcanoes. Andre Murray was back again to play for the Volcanoes, putting up 34 points. The Soldiers were led by IBL All Star Chehales Tapscott who had an impressive game with 35 points and 12 rebounds. The Soldiers came out on top, making it to the Portland Pro-Am Finals with a final score of 125 - 95.
Saturday's final game tipped off at 6 PM, with the number one seed Team Green taking on Team Takeover. Terrence Jones had a 51 point game for Team Takeover, leading his team in both points and rebounds. Tyrone White Jr. put up 45 points and 10 rebounds for Team Green, while Nick Green led Team Green in rebounds with 13. Team Green worked their way to the Portland Pro-Am Championship game, winning their semifinals game 148 - 130.

Portland Pro-Am Championship Game

The championship game tipped off Sunday evening, with Team Green facing the Beaverton Soldiers. Team Green came into the game as the number one seed, taking on the second seed Soldiers. Team Green had an 8 - 2 regular season record, although their only two losses were in games against the Soldiers.
The Soldiers led by 8 at halftime, but Team Green fought their way back in the third and fourth quarters. Tyrone White Jr. scored 51 points for Team Green, including a three point shot to tie the game with just 9 seconds left in the fourth quarter. But with just three seconds left in regulation, IBL All Star Chehales Tapscott took the ball to the hoop, scoring the final shot of the game for the Soldiers, who took home the victory with a final score of 132 - 130.
"Chehales hit a fall away at the buzzer to win it for us, so it was all on him. That was the original plan, get it to him and let him go to work." explained Soldiers coach, Steve Garrity.
"I knew it was going to be competitive, but my expectations, everywhere I go, I want to win. Just to play hard, and go out there and compete at the highest level." said finals MVP Chehales Tapscott.
