Game Recaps

Five games were played last weekend at Multnomah University,  starting off with a close game between the Huskies and the Soldiers. The game tipped off at 2 PM, and the Huskies led the first quarter. By halftime, the game was tied 76 - 76. Tyrone White Jr. stepped up for the Huskies, scoring 39 points. But that wasn't enough to stop the Soldiers, led by Taylor Braun and Riley Barker (both scoring 20) from taking the lead. The Soldiers took game one, with a score of 110 -105.
The Volcanoes received their sixth win of the season on Saturday, in a matchup against Team Takeover. Porter Troupe led the Volcanoes in scoring with 34 points, while big man Gijo Bain led in rebounds with 12. The Volcanoes were victorious in game two, with a 132 - 115 final.
Saturday's final game was another close matchup, featuring Next Level and Team Green. Both teams finished the game with six players scoring in double digits, although this weeks player of the week, Germain Jordan, topped them all with 44 points. Chris Johnson finished the game with a double-double, with 30 points and 17 rebounds. Team Green ended the game on top, with a final score of 129 - 126.
Sunday's 1 PM game featured Team Green and the Volcanoes. Jordan Railey scored 35 for Team Green, while Nick Green had another double-double with 24 points and 23 rebounds. The Volcanoes were led once again by Porter Troupe, who scored 26 while shooting at 47.8% from the field. Team Green took their second win of the weekend, outscoring the Volcanoes 111 - 99.
The Beaverton Soldiers faced off against team Next Level for the final game on Sunday. Player of the week Germain Jordan led Next Level once again, putting up 26 points and 6 rebounds. Taylor Braun also scored 26 points for the Soldiers, shooting at 50% from the field. Next Level won the final game, 115 - 112.
Volcanoes Porter Troupe and Team Takeover's Brad Tinsley will soon be taking their talents overseas. Troupe will be playing in Romania for Energia, who he went to the final four in the Eurocup with last season. Tinsley will be leaving to play in Portugal to play for FC Porto.

"The IBL has moved many players up to the NBA D-League and overseas, now with the new direction of being a league of leagues, we are managing the Portland Pro-Am directly where players can compete against some of the best including NBA talent. This gives them a chance to return after long seasons overseas, see family, rest up and get back to basketball before they return overseas. Many of our athletes are starting to see an increased number of offers, as well as moving up in various leagues. We anticipated players starting to go overseas this early, it was great to see Troupe back on the court an IBL Champion and Alumni as well as newcomer Tinsley. With scouts, agents and teams attending games as well as looking at our scouting reports we expect many more to be continuing their careers in pro basketball after the pro-am champion is crowned." Sharleen Graf shared, IBL President/CEO and COO of the Portland Pro Am.

All Star Day at
Portland Pro-Am

This Saturday August 8th, the Portland Pro-Am will be hosting a special event - All Star Day. Doors will open at 1 PM on Saturday, and All Star Day will begin at 4 PM, following game one of the weekend - Volcanoes vs. Next Level.
All Star Day will consist of a 3 point contest, a slam dunk contest, and a community scrimmage game featuring coaches, members of the media and Pro-Am players.
Mike James, host of team Next Level, will take part in both the 3 point and dunk contests. James averages 32.6% from behind the arc in the Pro-Am this season.
Tyrone White Jr. will also be competing in the 3 point contest. This season White is averaging 36% from the 3 point line.
This weekend will be one you don't want to miss, come join us at Multnomah University for All Star Day, and help cheer on your favorite competitors.
