HHSA Human Services Specialists Located at ECC, Chavez and Mid-City
San Diego Continuing Education’s (SDCE’s) current student population of 44,000+ now has access to County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) public assistance services at SDCE campuses.
HHSA offers a broad range of health and social services including CalFresh, CalWORKs and Medi-Cal. Staff from HHSA’s Central Region will be at three SDCE campuses beginning this month. More

California Community College Chancellor's Office Leads Flex Learning Options for Workers (FLOW)
Governor Jerry Brown invited Chancellor Eloy Oakley to provide suggestions for alternative educational pathways for working adult learners in alignment with the Vision for Success document, which was recently adopted by the Board of Governors.
San Diego Continuing Education (SDCE) has been selected to participate in a work group commissioned by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) to help inform suggested alternatives to help adult learners succeed.
SDCE's President Carlos O. Turner Cortez, Ph.D., will participate in four planning meetings and you are invited to attend SDCE's workgroup to inform the conversations with the state. More

Academic Senate for California Community Colleges (ASCCC) Noncredit Committee
The ASCCC Committee on Noncredit serves as a resource to the President and Executive Committee on issues related to instruction, counseling, student services, and program development in noncredit and the role of faculty in noncredit instruction as related to governance and local participation in academic and professional activities.
SDCE faculty member Bernie Rodriguez will join the committee this year, which participates in many initiatives, including planning for the spring Noncredit Summit (hosted by the statewide Academic Senate), and we also need to discuss the possibility of holding regional meetings in the fall.
