2016-21 Strategic Plan Update

The 2016-2021 Strategic Plan identifies specific actions SDCE must take to achieve the institutional goals. Goals and objectives were determined by developing and extracting themes from the education master plan and executive summary templates submitted by representatives of programs, departments, committees and major funding plans. The final Strategic Plan was submitted for review to the Academic Senate, the Classified Senate, Deans Council, Administrative Governance and the Executive Governance Council, who recommended approval and implementation to the President. Copies of the plan are expected to be available next month in print and online.

Congratulations Graduating Class of 2016

Annual Winter Concert

Presented by Cedar Center Chorus and Pacificaires
Pacificaires began as an SDCE class in 1976 and will continue to celebrate its 40th anniversary through December. Gwen Stummen founded the group in 1976 and directed for 25 years until 2001. Gwen attended a recent concert to help the group celebrate. Jackie Burson directed the groups for 2 years following Gwen, and Eunice Williams, who has been teaching at SDCE since 1987, has been conducting since 2003.

"We are particularly proud of our mission to be inclusive with our repertoire," said Eunice. "For the June concert, the theme was America is the World's Musical Melting Pot: We are All Related. We sang pieces in Spanish, Zulu, French, Mende (from Sierra Leone), Italian, and Latin. Our styles are also eclectic. Including Vivaldi, Dvorak, Toto and Harry Nilsson in the same program is rare."
