We had such a blast last Friday serving paella at the St. Andrew's School Spring Fest for Financial Aid. Chef Rich Taylor prepared three different paellas - seafood, meat, and vegetable. See more paella photos on our Flickr photostream. Last year the event raised $1.3 million in financial aid for 138 students who would otherwise be unable to afford a St. Andrew's education. Look for us today at the Coastal Conservation Association banquet (details below). Stop by our booth for a taste of our famous Texas Bouillabaisse!

Look for the Quality Seafood Market food station - we'll be serving our Texas Bouillabaisse - at today's Coastal Conservation Association fundraiser at the Palmer Events Center at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $150 and benefit the Texas CCA, whose mission is "to conserve, promote and enhance the present and future availability of...coastal resources for the benefit and enjoyment of the general public."

Fried Salt Mackerel (from The White House Cookbook by Mrs. F.L. Gillette and Hugo Ziemann)

We hope you enjoy this vintage recipe for simple Fried Salt Mackerel from the The White House Cookbook published in 1887 and co-authered by Mrs. F.L. Gillette and Hugo Ziemann, Steward of the White House. It just goes to show that simple preparations are timeless ones.

"Select as many salt mackerel as required; wash and cleanse them well, then put them to soak all day in cold water, changing them every two hours; then put them into fresh water just before retiring. In the morning drain off the water, wipe them dry, roll them in flour, and fry in a little butter on a hot, thick-bottomed frying pan. Serve with a little melted butter poured over, and garnish with a little parsley."

Lobsterfest Saturdays - Live Maine lobsters are flown in Saturday mornings and boiled to-order from 12 p.m. - 9 p.m. When in season, we also boil live Dungeness crabs flown fresh from the West Coast. Lobsters are $19.99 each and Dungeness crabs are just $15.99/lb.
