A Course in Miracles Quotes

"You are the dreamer of the world of dreams."

"It is not difficult to change a dream when once the dreamer has been recognized."

"No one can waken from a dream the world is dreaming for you."

"How foolish and insane it is to think a miracle is bound by laws which it came solely to undo?"

Be the Expression that Most Suits Your Heart

There’s a lot of confusion about what your purpose is here on Earth and how to find it and then what to do with it and then how big to be. A little clarity might help in this department. You only have one purpose and it is this: Be the best expression of an Infinite Creator that you possibly can. No one else can fill your bill. The uniqueness that is you is filling as important a spot as any other living being. No one can do it except you.  An infinitely creative being would never duplicate nor need to. Each and every living being is a potential expression of untethered, uncensored creation energy. There is no wrong or right to the purpose thing, only that you have one. And the best way to locate it is to follow the promptings of the heart.

It goes like this. Your heart energy (not to be confused with the loins) is the place where your love resides. This is the place where creation energy lives as well, since creation energy is simply the vibration of unconditionally allowing. Unconditionally allowing is just another way to describe love; agape, true love, unconditional acceptance. So, follow what you love. The promptings of the heart are not coincidental. They are hinting at your purpose.

Be the Expression that Most Suits Your Heart
...continued from above.

Steve Jobs, so readily quoted this last week after his passing, says, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work.  And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”

Some additional hints as you keep looking. Every experience you encounter allows you one of two optional responses. Only two. To assume the victim position (I did not do this to myself, someone else did and I do not like it) or assume the responsible position (I may not like what is happening, but I figure I had some role in creating it, consciously or not.) Telltale signs come from your commonly spewed idiomatic expressions. Listen to yourself. Do you say any of the following or your own versions?

If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself. There’s always more work to be done. It’s easier to thread a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go to heaven. Money is the root of all evil. Idle hands are the workshop of the devil. He didn’t work for it, he doesn’t deserve it. Easy come, easy go. If you wear your feelings on your sleeve, you are sure to get them knocked off.  You have to play your cards right. He’s just a lucky guy. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I’ve always played second fiddle. If you are too big, you get too pompous. Nice guys finish last. No good deed goes unpunished.

These are just some ways the non-conscious self lets you know how you are creating your own story. Are you living the result of these very beliefs? Inevitably, when someone musters the courage to take steps to follow their heart, they trip and fall or sabotage themselves. It does not come from without, but from the Greater Mind, you, within. So don’t be alarmed when you start those lessons or classes, move to the place you most love or step out on a limb to expose your true feelings if something feels unstable. That is natural. But are you going to let that deter you? Recognize that every obstacle is an opportunity to see what Core Beliefs you hold inside that limit your greatest expression of an unlimited creator! Like Steve says, Don’t settle for less than what your heart desires!

The last week of August the second group of Spiritual Vision Questers, calling themselves Curanderas Ligeras (Spanish for a special kind of light healer) met for their third intensive. One year into the program, we witnessed lots of change, hard shells cracking open, challenges with old stories, blossoming and much community. It was a fabulous week, not without our own unique teachers, but perfect in every way.

Terri McDonald, a graduate from the first Spiritual Vision Quest, is living her dream. Presently in Cambodia, she is offering her healing services to children in a state orphanage and is hiking, traveling and beaming her love. I just had to include this adorable picture of her, am so proud that she is following the promptings of her heart!

"There is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul." -Ella Wheeler Wilcox

"To be enlightened is to be without anxiety over imperfection." -Buddha

"One hour per day of study will put you at the top of your field within three years. Within five years you'll be a national authority. In seven years, you can be one of the best people in the world at what you do." -Earl Nightingale

"You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give." -Kahlil Gibran

ideation fixation

What happens when you get a problem stuck in your mind, like a computer program on an endless search, and it keeps processing in the background until you find a suitable solution? You got ego hooked. You have taken on the idea that you and you alone have the solution and that it can be found in the brain. In that one thought, you have cancelled out the possibility that it isn’t your place to solve the problem, the solution is not ready yet, or that your brain does not hold the answer.

When you find yourself in this endless loop, stop the thought process. Accept that perhaps the solution is too big to fit in your brain. Allow your Greater Mind, or your connection to organic wisdom to take over. Turn the problem over to a greater problem solver. The Problem Solver that accepts only one solution: Win/Win. Else the problem gets recreated again and again until all parties are treated equitably. So unhook the ego hook, let the endless seeking go, turn every problem over.
