Events in local sustainability this August
Farm days

Most of the planting has been done, so now we are starting to see the fruits of our labours

We meet at the Community Farm or the Community Orchard in Poundbury on
Sunday afternoons at around 2pm

and also on

Wednesday mornings at 10.30

Everything is brittle and dry, but we have been watering our vegetables.  So there is always weeding to be done, as well as scything and making compost.  We will soon be back to infrastructure projects, like building sheds, laying woodchip on paths, and we would like to put up a rainwater harvesting system on the other side of the polytunnel.

The site is large and it is easy to socially distance.  Email us if you'd like to come along.

Railway Orchard
We will meet on
Saturday 6 August at 11am.

The orchard is lovely at this time of year, with the apples ripening on the trees. Still plenty to do, trimming the grass and cutting back brambles.  We will certainly have to top up the pond with the dwindling supply of rainwater in the water butts.

Always good to have a break, especially to watch others working...
