EAL Spotlight - December 2016 Issue

On behalf of EAL colleagues, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers and learners a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year!

In 2017, EAL will celebrate 25 years of designing and developing high quality industry qualifications, we really appreciate and value your support and look forward to continuing to work with you during the coming year.

I was delighted to join EAL recently as Managing Director but know it’s been a very busy and challenging year for all our customers and partners.  There’s been an unprecedented amount of change in the external skills environment for us to manage and much more expected in the coming months.

Rest assured that EAL and the wider Semta Group are at the forefront of any industry and wider skills landscape changes and are uniquely positioned to help you maximise all new opportunities to benefit your business and offer learners the best pathways to success. Our Group CEO Ann Watson has put together a review of the year that you can read here.

We have some exciting plans for our 25th year; our customers can expect more innovative qualifications, backed up with excellent customer service and strategy to delivery skills solutions support from time served experts in your field.

In the meantime, we wish you all the very best for the rest of the year and a restful seasonal break.

Al Parkes
Managing Director

New Guidance to Support Centre Staff Delivering Controlled Internal Assessments

We’ve developed some new guidance to help centre staff who mark EAL controlled internal assessments.

This brings our assessment guidance for controlled internal assessments together in one concise, easy reference guide, and reinforces the information included in our qualification manuals and learner guidance.

The new guide features following assessment methods:

•    Supervision of controlled assessments
•    Closed book assessment
•    Open book assessment
•    Practical assessments
•    What can be stored in an e-portfolio?

The document is available to download from our website, and can also be accessed in Smarter Touch.
