As you read, roll your eyes, and delete the n'th email from another service thanking you for your business today, we want to start with a question: what is gratitude?

The dictionary says it's "readiness to show appreciation for and return kindness." It means that someone has helped you, and you want to return the favor.

If in your first job, you take on extra responsibility, your boss and teammates will reward you.

If in your relationship you give an unexpected gift, you will get a return in spades.

If later in your career, you do something great for your team, your manager will notice and want more of you.

If the elderly in your family tell you on this Thanksgiving Day that their apps have suddenly "disappeared" from their computer, and you respond with a smile and not rage, they will give you more turkey. 🦃

Imagine how far you can go in your life and career if you start by giving to someone else.

Of course, giving does not mean sacrificing yourself, giving more than you can afford, or ignoring your boundaries. It's about finding an overlap between what helps others, and what makes you happy.

We at Devpost do thank you for using our service, and we want to give back to you. Please email me directly with any Devpost requests or suggestions you have: brandon@devpost.com. And we hope you have a wonderful day. 😀
