Faith is what makes real the things we hope for. It is proof of what we cannot see. God was pleased with the people who lived a long time ago because they had faith like this.

Faith helps us understand that God created the whole world by his command. This means that the things we see were made by something that cannot be seen.

Hebrews 11:1-3

When it gets too hard to move forward...

For me, sometimes circumstances can sometimes be the biggest enemy to my faith... or is it? Difficult circumstance really does one of two things: it either (1) champions me to activate my faith and continue being content in all things and operate out of peace OR (2 - which is more often than not) it reveals and magnifies where my "faith" truly lies. In the times where my faith waivers, its a tell-tale sign that my trust hadn't been in God in the first place but that it was all in me, my knowledge or my ability. It reveals the ugliness of what I'm actually operating in... PRIDE!

Argh! Pride... what an ugly, ugly thing. No wonder that in those times I feel like the world is crashing down around me... it is! God opposes the proud (James 4:6) but if we are humble and respond, He will be present (2 Chron. 7:14)! That peace (that I should have had in the first place) will be oozing out of me and I will have full confidence in who He is because I will have had a greater understanding of who he is and what He's capable of. Like it says in Hebrews 11:3, 'that He created the whole world by His command'!

Lately its been hard. My health has been wonky and we've been super tight financially, summer is nearly done and mountains feel harder to climb. All these circumstance want to provoke the anxiety and doubt that comes so naturally. In these times, I have had to come to a place of deep repentance (AGAIN) of my pride so I can rest the fact that he carries me in His perfect peace. Its not naturally an easy place to be in, but as I stay in communion with the Father it really does flow out of that deep place of being with Him.

What's your faith in today? What does moving forward look like to you? Is it anxious or peaceful? Be encouraged that you have all peace available to you today! Tap into the source.

Many MANY blessings of peace over your mind, body and spirit today.

A little slideshow of the Youth Missions Trip to the Yakama Nation
Youth Mission Trip:  Ang and the girls just returned from a youth missions trip to a Native American Reservation in Washington State (video above). They came back with a greater appreciation of not only North America but the original culture of the land. Thank you all who contributed to get them there. We are so grateful that you are joining us in championing the faith of our children as they grow up and continue to explore and walk toward Jesus.  Click on 'Stories from some Haythorpe Kid Missionaries' to hear about their experience.

Angela's Health: Originally we were a little unsure of how Ang would do going on the youth trip but she managed well. She is still struggling with some blurred and double vision and, at times, vertigo. She continues to see doctors as they explore more avenues of the cause. The main help at this time is rest and, although its super frustrating for Ang the Super-Mum, she is pacing herself well. Thank you for your continued prayer over her health.

YWAM Events: There are some things creeping up on the calendar for us. Work never stops... it's a good thing we love it so much. :) We have some events and travels coming soon. We'll keep you posted as they approach. Here are some things coming up that you can pray for:
  • YWAM Bay Area Staff Retreat (Aug 9-11). This is an incredible time for unity as we gather all our staff from across the Bay to seek the Lord and just have some fun.
  • YWAM Conference in Costa Rica (Sept 3-12). We are in prayer over this as we'd have to see a bit more finances come in and also need to organize childcare.
  • Youth Street Halloween Party (Oct 31). This will be a bit of a push as we have no staff or students to help this year. We'll have to rally a bunch of volunteers but our neighbors look forward to this every year and we love just being a light of Jesus in Downtown San Jose.
Finance Update: We are still working toward the rest of $28,000 to finish off our fundraising for this year. Please continue to pray that our networks continue to expand as we continue on in ministry.
