Next weekend is going to be busy! Our Spring Bike Tune-up Workshop on May 10 will be just in time to get your bike ready for our Art Studio Bike Tour!
Where: Meet at The ACT
When: Sunday, May 11
Time: 10:00 a.m.
The successful Art Studio Tour is already in its 16th year, and this is the first year that we're trying an Art Studio Tour by bike to explore the amazing local arts scene. We've selected a number of studios that are easily bikeable, mostly along quieter residential roads and some off-road paths. A nice variety of art mediums is represented in our selection of artists. The distance of the ride will be about 19 kms.
To find out more about the Art Studio Tour and the participating artists, check out the Art Studio Tour website
. You can find a list of the artists that we'll be visiting along the planned bike route on our blog post
Members as well as non-members are insured for this ride through HUB. Note that participants are required to sign a waiver.
The first studio is at The ACT, so feel free to come a bit early, so that after signing your waiver you can take your time to look around the studio before we hop on our bikes.
This is the approximate route:
We have been asked by the District's Engineering Department, the RCMP and the Fire Department to point out to participants that:
- it is illegal to ride 2 or more abreast;
- cyclists are legally required to wear a helmet;
- riders must obey all traffic rules/regulations specially at intersections;
- and riders must yield to all emergency vehicles.
Some of the artists may provide some refreshments at the various studios, but since we'll be on the road for several hours, you may want to bring a water bottle and a small lunch or a snack along.
Pre-registration is appreciated (reply to this e-mail), but if you decide last-minute you want to join us, it's not a problem! It's jus nice for us to know beforehand approximately how many people will participate.
I will bring maps along in case some people would prefer to ride at their own pace.
This FREE ride is being organized by HUB volunteers. If you like what HUB does in your community, consider joining as a member
