Fall is in the air (Spring #2 for us Arizonans) and it feels good. Between college football and NFL, the weekends are full and the honey-do's are falling behind.
This past weekend was action packed for the BBS and Luke AFB. We completed the second annual Kentucky Barrel tasting to allow our winning bidders from the golf tourney auction the opportunity to choose the bourbon barrel for next year's golf tourney. This was my first opportunity to visit Louisville and special thanks to Ron, Brooke and Bob Bambauer for planning a great trip and to Bill Dunkle and Mike Walling for facilitating amazing events at Maker's Mark, Jim Beam and Churchill Downs. The two winning bidders of the auction item (Julie Calza and Mark Davenport) will attest this was well worth the auction price and they claim they have chosen the best barrel EVER! Be sure to save your money for next year's auction so you can experience this amazing event.
Last Wednesday, Bravo class hosted the September HHHS and thanks to Bravo Class leadership, Laura Etter and Bill Adams for setting everything up, Danny Ortega for giving a FCF update, and all that attended. We will be announcing the next HHHS soon, so stay tuned.
Lastly, base leadership hosted the Air Force Ball honoring 75 years of the Air Force last Saturday night. Thanks to the following people/companies that purchased tables sponsorship and/or donated tickets to airmen: AROK and Brian Cooper, Discount Tire and Chris Henrichsen and Don Majors Jr , Doris Ong Family, and Jon Sigona.
Be on the look out for an upcoming event schedule and find ways to "be present", as Ron Sites likes to say!
Until next time, Cheers!
Thank you to all the volunteers that came out to support the JE Dunn Charity Golf Classic as well as Kirk McClure and JE Dunn for choosing Fighter Country Foundation as the beneficiary for this great tournament.
Happy Hour Hit Squad
The weather cooled and BBS took over the patio at Aunt Chilada's Dreamy Draw for our September BBS HHHS. An intimate, but quality group of roughly 20 attended and caught up with each other, the comings and goings of life, and received a detailed update from FCF Finance Chair, Danny Ortega.
For those unable to attend, Danny discussed the change of command and new leadership that occurred at the end of July and our new command, Brigadier General Jason Reuschhoff who already has a basic understanding of who we are and what we do from Lieutenant General Scott Pleus. We are excited to work with him during his tenure at Luke. FCF has been very busy with over $2M in completed projects at Luke AFB. Additionally, we have four approved projects yet to start; Luke Honor Guard Training Facility, Chapel Center Kitchen Renovation, Field House Facility Project, and CE Squadron Heritage Room. There are a number of additional projects in various stages of the planning and approval pipeline that we will be hearing about throughout the year.
Fundraising efforts continue with the report of a very successful Annual Golf Tournament, continued efforts to increase Luke AFB license plate sales, and a big thank you to Kirk McClure and JE Dunn for FCF being the charity recipient of the JE Dunn 2022 Golf Classic. We discussed upcoming events and the support FCF is able to provide to Luke personnel and families through our fundraising efforts. Keep your eyes out for opportunities to volunteer and engage in activities on base and in the community.
It was great to see all who attended and we look forward to seeing you at the next BBS HHHS!
