Greetings of Joy and Peace
It's International Month of the Child and
Day of the African Child on June 16th.
Please receive our thanks as we share ongoing accomplishments for orphaned children in Uganda, made possible by donations and funds raised at our 2015 Valentine's Benefit Dance!
We're in the process of installing solar lighting in classrooms and dorms for two community projects we are working with:
ACIO's Canaan Primary School and
CCDO's Favour Primary School, both in Sironko.
In addition, we are grateful to fulfill a longstanding
commitment to provide a latrine and bathing building
for girls, as well as desks at ACIO.
We're also joining with caregivers in the community
to purchase the first 4 of 15 heifers for Phase 2 of our
'Heifers for Caregivers Project', an ongoing project for
guardians of orphaned children in home based care.
Appreciation, Gratitude and Love to All!
More News: A group of primary students from both ACIO and CCDO just completed workshops to make, by hand, 9 dulcimers for each of their schools. Mr. Johnson, a local musician and music teacher extraordinaire, is continuing on with music lessons at both schools for this next school term. We think you'll enjoy reading and seeing more about the wonderfully successful workshops, here.
CCDO: To date, LITA contributors have supported this community based organization with a beautiful 8 classroom primary school, 2 latrine/bathing buildings, 2 dormitories designed to house 80 orphaned children, as well as beds and bedding for the 30 children who are presently in full time care at the dorms.
LITA is raising support for an additional 25 decker beds and bedding to bring the remaining children, currently staying temporarily with well wishers in the community, to the centre to live.

This year, the very special month of June finds us grateful and excited to introduce you to 'WILBRA', the next grass roots school/housing project LITA would like to support in its development.
WILBRA will bring benefit to over 100 orphaned, and many more vulnerable and community children in Bududa, Uganda, a district in eastern region seriously
affected by mud slides five years ago.
With an enrollment today of over 500 students learning in mud/stick classrooms, the community's goals include a permanent seven room primary school,
three room preschool, housing for 80 orphans, four latrine buildings,
and a cooking and food storage building.
Please help to bring this locally directed, well administered
village school to their next level of development by
donating during this month of June's Love.
The current estimate for the 'WILBRA Project'
is approximately $220,000 Cdn.
LITA greatly values our contributors and appreciates all donations,
be them "small, large, or anywhere in between". We look forward to partnering with you, 'WILBRA' and their community to bring this beautiful vision for the children to life!
