Juan Meza, President
: was raised in Weslaco, TX and moved the DFW area in 2009 to attend the University of North Texas. At UNT, Juan graduated with a B.S. in Computer Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. Juan was active in SHPE UNT, being one of their first official members when it was founded and served as their Treasurer. Juan now works in PepsiCo apart of the Global End User Services Device Engineering group, providing PepsiCo new technologies proof of concepts.
Juan Nevarez, Vice-President
: is a Vice President of a private investment firm acquiring and operating oil and gas properties for university endowment and pension plans. A Petroleum Engineering graduate from Texas Tech and MBA in Finance, Juan also enjoys golfing, running, and reading. Juan joined SHPE to work with others to seek mentorship opportunities for engineering professionals and students.
Casandra Manning Lozano, Secretary
: is originally from Pleasant Grove, Dallas, Texas. She now works as a Vehicle Integration Engineer at Peterbilt Motors Company, has designed HVAC systems, and 8+ years experience in the automotive industry. She is a graduate from the University of North Texas where she earned a BS in Mechanical and Energy Engineering in 2013 and finished a BS in Mathematics with a breadth in analysis in 2014. While at UNT, she established the UNT SHPE chapter and served as president for the Council of Engineering Organizations. She is also a mentor for the UNT TAMS Robotics Club and a member of the Truckin' Toastmasters.
David Cruz, Treasurer
: a Project Engineer with Burgess & Niple, Inc. (B&N). Mr. Cruz joined B&N as a civil engineer in the Dallas office in 2009 following acquisition of GSWW by B&N. Mr. Cruz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and a Lifetime SHPE Member. He is a member of various Professional Organizations such as ASCE, EWB-USA, and WEF. He likes to spend time reading, running, and fixing thing around the house.
Naomi Hernandez, Community Outreach Chair
: SHPE Lifetime member and current SHPE Region 5 Vice President, works in Military Programs at Bell Helicopter. She completed her undergraduate and graduate coursework at Southern Methodist University where she found her passion for SHPE ten years ago.
Justa Treviño, SHPE Jr. Chair
: worked for Raytheon for 36 years and retired from the company in December 2013. Justa is a Lifetime SHPE Member. She works with students and engages them in workshops to create the awareness and ignite their passion in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Science (STEM). Justa is the recipient of the 2013 SHPE Technical Achievement Recognition Professional Model Award. Justa has a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, and a Masters in Systems Engineering from Texas Tech, Lubbock. She is married, has three children, and six (6) grandchildren.
Rudy Treviño, Professional Development Chair
: is a Principle Mechanical Engineer with Raytheon, McKinney, Texas. He has been with Raytheon for 37 years, is a Registered Professional Engineer, and a Lifetime SHPE Member. He is a member of various Professional Organizations (ASME, SWE, AISES Sequoyah Fellow) and supports all Employee Resource Groups at Raytheon. Rudy has a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas-Austin, and an MBA in Engineering Management from the University of Dallas. Rudy, originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, is married with 3 children and six grandchildren, and currently resides in Prosper, Texas.
Juancarlo Quezada, Membership Chair
: was born in Santa Ana, El Salvador and arrived in Texas in 1999. He attended North Lake Community College in 2004 where he earned an Associates in Science and then obtained a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington in December 2011. Juancarlo started working for Hanson Pressure Pipe in December 2011 and works as a Project Estimator.
Brianne C, Martin, Communications Chair
: is originally from Victoria, Texas, attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 2008-2010, and graduated from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi with her Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering in December 2013. Currently, she works as a Tooling Engineer at Zodiac Aerospace in Gainesville, Texas and resides in Denton. Brianne is a member of various professional organizations including ASME, SWE, Women In Manufacturing, and is currently starting up a Diversity Council at Zodiac. She enjoys volunteering, speaking to, and encouraging our future engineers/leaders as well as singing, dancing, all sports, and outdoors.

Woodrow Wilson High School to host Latinas in STEM 101 Conference in Dallas, TX. Latinas in STEM 101 is a series of nationwide workshops, developed by the Latinas in STEM Foundation, focused on inspiring middle and high school students (and their parents) to pursue and thrive in STEM fields. The conference is open to Dallas/Fort Worth Area middle and high school students and their parents. The conference is FREE of cost to attendees and will include continental breakfast and lunch. Conference features include a hands-on activity, workshops exploring STEM fields, personal stories by current professionals in STEM fields, and parent information sessions.
