Come join us in igniting a passion for STEM! We will be influencing high schools students to pursue a degree in STEM by holding panels and college information sessions.
Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

Network After Work (Dallas) -- Dallas at Eberhard



Come mingle, socialize, and network with hundreds of local professionals on Thursday, November 19th at Eberhard (2107 Henderson Ave) from 6-9pm. With over 1 million members and 60 events across the country each month, Network After Work gets America networking. You’ll make friends and valuable connections in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

The David W. Carter High School Project

SHPE DFW is proud to partner with Dallas ISD and Cedar Valley College for a "Transformation From Within" and we are in need of mentors and volunteers. If you're interested email communications@shpe-dfw.org with your name and a short description of the kind of involvement you'd like to provide and if you have any particular skill set or resources you'd like to share.

Mission: To serve all of David W. Carter High School by strengthening the culture of college and career readiness for every student
Vision: To cultivate a community of partners working together to transform from within our mission and goals

Needing "Mentor" Presenters
  • 12th graders [200 students]
    • Morning 90 min session
  • 9th graders [300-400 students]
    • Afternoon 90 min session
  • 4th Friday of every month
  • Seeking One-on-One Mentors

SHPE National Conference
November 11-15th

SHPE DFW represented at this year's national conference!
As a chapter, SHPE DFW had the opportunity to take part in the Professional Development Program which focused on short & long-term strategic-value for the members. Invaluable networking with SHPE Professional members and Corporate representatives throughout the country was a highlight for conference attendees. During the conference, the chapter was recognized nationally and regionally with two awards: the National Medium Chapter of the Year Award and the Regional Medium Chapter of the Year Award.

SHPE DFW would like to congratulate our Vice President Rudy Treviño who was recognized at the Star Awards Banquet for receiving the Professional Role Model of the Year Award. 

SHPE National also welcomed two new Lifetime Members, SHPE DFW's very own President Clemente Quiñones and Community Outreach Director (& Region 5 Vice President) Brianne Martin.

Juan Nevarez, SHPE DFW's Professional Development Director, returned to his alma mater to present to the SHPE Texas Tech Student Chapter. His agenda included our SHPE DFW Professional chapter, his Industry Journey, and his insider's perspective on the Oil & Gas industry. The Texas Tech Raiders expressed their excitement and gratitude for Juan's time and presentation via their social media sites.
Noche De Ciencias

SHPE DFW had the honor to host their first Noche De Ciencias of the Fall at Townview SEM. Over 20 students had the opportunity to hear from several professionals on why they chose to pursue STEM careers as well as apply their analytical skills in an engineering project!


 
SHPE DFW and Goldman Sachs Resume Critique

SHPE DFW was honor to collaborate with Goldman Sachs in hosting a resume critique and conference preparation workshop for  SHPE UTD. The event was a great success and served as a great prep session for the student members attending the National Conference!
 

 
SHPE DFW General Body Meeting
October 31, 2015

SHPE DFW had the opportunity to host their first general body meeting on Halloween which comprised of a leadership panel. In attendance we had members who were associated with the American Cancer Society, Teach For America, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Hispanic Bankers Association. Three of SHPE DFW's members also shared their pack to success and background stories which proved to be inspirational!
