Marti and Louis Williams update you on what's happening this Easter Season at Miss Marti's House, an urban ministry of Into The Neighborhood.

Easter Fun!

Louis and I are excited that Easter is almost upon us! And I had a great time today picking up the Easter Bunny costume, borrowed from our friends at West End Assembly of God (Thanks, WEAG!). I drove home with the Easter Bunny sitting shotgun in our bright red convertible. As I drove through VCU, down Belvidere and Chamberlayne, Brookland Park Boulevard and North Avene to our home on Barton Avenue. Yes...I took the scenic route. The response from everyone was nothing short of AHmazing...bringing smiles to everyone we passed, which then...I have to admit...brought me joy!

The local news recently reported on the drive-by shootings we recently had in our community. Last October, 2013 - a young man was shot in front of our home; and a stray bullet came through our home (from front to back). So, we have decided that between now and Easter (weather permitting) we are going to randomly select parts of the city to do joy-filled drive-bys. Instead of shooting guns, the Easter Bunny, Louis and I are going to share some love and throw candy to people who are...
  • walking down the street,
  • sitting at the bus stops,
  • living in affordable housing,
  • working on our roads and picking up our trash,
  • flying a sign "will work for food" at the stop lights,
  • and anywhere else we can think of.

This is where we need YOUR help! We need candy...the really, really good kind... and we might need some gas money, too!  If you are willing to contribute to our ministry, feel free to...
  • drop candy on our front porch,
  • mail a check to:

2101 Barton Avenue

  • or, make a donation to our non-profit here.
Thanks for partnering with us in ministry! We really appreciate you! We aren't doing this for any other reason than to love our neighbors...bring a little joy...make someone smile. If we get the chance to tell them why, we will tell them...

Jesus is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!
