WEEKLY INSPIRATION FROM KIND LIVING
30 March 2020
Words by Andy Smallman / Artwork by Fish Astronaut
Hello Kind Living Friends!

There is a lot going on, to say the least, and much of it is concerning. Still, the pulse of our collective lives continues, and the seasons change.

Recently, here in the northern hemisphere where I live, we experienced the first day of spring. At my home in Seattle, we now have more hours of daylight than we do hours of darkness, a cause for celebration for Melinda, my wife, and me.

It's easy to miss these transitions and the warmth they bring when we become singularly focused on COVID-19.

With these things in mind, I encourage you this week to provide for another something you yourself wish to experience. Some concrete examples:
  • If you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another.
  • If you wish to know that you are safe, cause another to know that they are safe.
  • If you wish to better understand seemingly incomprehensible things, help another to better understand.
  • If you wish to heal your own sadness or anger, seek to heal the sadness or anger of another.
Put broadly, be the daylight instead of the darkness.

Meanwhile, if I can provide some service to you, maybe something as simple as a phone conversation, please reach out. I'd be honored to connect with you.

Be healthy and breathe easy,

POSTSCRIPT:

I'm sure we all know people who have lost their jobs because of the pandemic. My daughter, Ella, a baker, is on furlough for at least the next two weeks and likely much longer. One of my consultancy practice clients has lost her job as a restaurant worker. I will continue to serve her even though she can no longer pay me.

If you are one of the lucky people who continue to draw a full wage and aren't likely to lose it, I encourage you to find ways to support individuals and businesses who are being impacted. It's not only an infusion of needed money, it's a statement of support and encouragement.
Kind Living inspires people to both recognize
and engage in acts of ordinary kindness.
