Hi Kind Living Friends!
For this week, I offer you encouragement to review an event in your life that caused you to suffer at the time of it. Please do not choose anything that you do not want to consider.
As your comfort level allows, review the event in detail, perhaps even taking time to write or talk to a trusted friend about it. Next, reflect on whether or not something positive entered your life because of the event.
- Perhaps you met someone you otherwise would not have met.
- Perhaps you learned how to respond better to a person or situation you found difficult.
If something positive has entered your life, allow yourself to express gratitude for the event.
As you proce
ss this experience, consider the pandemic through this self-reflective lens. What positive opportunities are being presented to you that you otherwise would not have?
This exercise is not intended to suggest that we should go out looking for painful experiences in order to find silver linings in them. It is, however, based on the ideas that by being alive we are going to experience pain and that we do have some control over how we respond.
Wishing you a warming week,
APPRECIATION CIRCLE ON ZOOM
"I felt more grounded for the rest of the day."
So said one of the people who participated in our first Apprecia
tion Circle last Monday. The concept is to open a Zoom room for an hour during which folks can drop by for as much or as little of the hour as they like.
Participants share something for which they are appreciative and are witnesses to the appreciations shared by others. A good deal of the time is simply spent in silence, people only speaking when they feel moved to speak.
If you are interested in joining, let me know and I'll send you the Zoom link. The room opens at 7:30am PDT on Mondays.
