News in Youth for Christ Poland

New season. New projects. New responsibilities.

In June we said good bye to Bartek Jakoniuk- the director of Youth for Christ- Poland and welcomed Krzysztof Kacprowicz, a YFC volunteer for many years and recently a YFC trustee. He took over Bartek’s role in July.
There are new projects and challenges ahead of us. The second edition of the project called “kobie.TY” – a series of meetings for young women who look for more depth and quality of life- is scheduled for October. We have also been busy preparing the New Year’s conference “The Beginning.” It is the seventh year since we started it. We are very excited and grateful for another opportunity to enter the New Year with prayers on our lips. Also, in September, our community centre “Narnia”- the second home for many underprivileged children from Wroclaw’s “Triangle”- re-opened after the summer break.

New director

Since his teenage years, Krzysztof has been involved in church life. Initially, he ministered among children and youth. His passion for young people and desire to serve others with his talents motivated him to study theology and psychology. He was one of the co-planters of the church LIFE in Warsaw. Together with its leaders he travelled to Great Britain to learn how to build and support a team. Krzysztof’s desire is to invest in young leaders and in church unity.
“Freedom mean wolność”
The summer camp “Freedom means wolność” took place for the 11thtime this year. Eleventh  year of the great adventure we plan for children with our friends from the Association “Pomost” from Krotoszyn and with our English friends from Bilton Church in Rugby. Each camp consists of seven days of learning English, seven days of getting to know Bible stories and Bible heroes, seven days of fun with a group of great children. We cannot wait till the next camp!

It is a series of meetings addressed to women who look for more depth and quality of life. We are organising it for the second time in October. The idea behind the project is not just to have a nice time with good food and music but to offer to women of different age, different personal and church background an opportunity to get inspired and encouraged to grow in their potential. We believe that each woman has a calling and is given talents and creativity to fulfil it. During the meetings we want to help women to dig out what is their beauty- this God-given potential and strength.

The Beginning

This year’s event circles around Psalm 73. We believe that our life, our choices and decisions are the best only when we live close to Jesus. He is our pride and the only reason why we do what we do. He is our happiness, because as the Psalm goes- “our happiness is to be close to God”.

The community club “Narnia” is created for children and teenagers from so called Wroclaw Bermuda Triangle.  They are given an opportunity to meet in a cosy, well-equipped room and participate, for free, in many educational workshops: theatre, art and crafts, cooking lessons, sports, etc. We have been running some additional events for the children to display their art work or present their new acquired skills. We also partner with other educational associations when organising some field trips for our club participants.
