October Board Meeting is this Saturday - all are welcome. Board members, please be prepared! Send any agenda items to Robert asap. Board folder on musetta.
Performers - see Barry's rehearsal notes below in Performer's Corner.
EVERYONE: Last call - we need more than 10 responses! Take our post-GALA survey. It only takes a few minutes and it will help jump-start our planning for GALA2020 in Minneapolis. Even if you did not attend GALA2016, please fill out the survey.
Save the date! All members, off stage and performing, are welcome to attend our first overnight retreat at Brown County Inn on November 4-6, 2016. Pricing and more details to come. Start asking around to arrange roommates (up to four per room)...the more to a room the less-expensive it will be for you. Plan to arrive Friday by dinner time and depart Sunday around 1pm. Board members - plan on having our board meeting sometime Saturday at the same venue.
After our performance Sunday, let's plan on going to lunch together. Robert has also offered to lead those who are interested on a hike from his house down to Lake Griffey. Bring sturdy shoes!
To celebrate National Coming Out Day on Oct. 11th (Tuesday), GradQueers invites the Hoosier community to a night of storytelling at The Back Door.
We are hosting a Moth-style event where people come and tell anecdotes related to the event’s theme of “coming out”. This is an intimate and enlightening experience; and we encourage everyone to come out and celebrate the diversity of our community and beauty of the human condition.
GradQueers is currently looking for interested storytellers who wants to share their stories. All stories are welcome, whether funny, bizarre, heartwarming, or heartbreaking. If you're interested, please contact Don Dumayas (see contact info below).
When: 10/11 (Tuesday)
Time: 8 PM
Where: The Back Door
This event is 21 and older.
All members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies are welcome to attend.
For more information on the event, please contact Don Dumayas at firstname.lastname@example.org or the IU GLBT Office at 812-855-4252.
Doug McKinney and Peter Burkholder (QMC alums) organize the monthly Bloomington Gay Men's Fellowship. If you'd like to be placed on their mailing list contact Doug McKinney <email@example.com>.
There is a new speakeasy-style party for gay men, their friends, allies, and other aesthetes (no cover, no requests) organized by Aaron Tilford at the Root Cellar (basement of FARM on Kirkwood Ave by BLU Boy and Buskirk-Chumley Theater) called Monsieur. Every week on Sunday, 8pm-Midnight.

Current note from Barry:
Thanks for the hard work on Monday night. We have made some good progress
and with some individual and group efforts we are ready for some large
steps forward. Your individual work makes all the difference.
This week please review the work we¹ve done with particular focus on "Festival
This next week we will work on "Oseh Shalom," "Chanukah In Santa
Monica," and continue work on "I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus."
We will also be reviewing our work on "Sure On This Shining Night."
Have a great week and I hope to see you ALL on Monday!
Past notes from Barry: Hey folks. Thank you for a great rehearsal last Monday.
Last week we focused on “Festival Gloria,” “Stargazing,” “Chanukah in Santa Monica,” and “Oseh Shalom.”
This week we will continue some work on those pieces but will focus a little on “Sure On This Shining Night,” from rehearsal D to the end; “I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus,” and “Silver Bells.”
Hopefully you’ve taken my challenge to start looking at your music a little bit each day even if that’s only 10-20 minutes. You can review rhythms, read the words so that you get context and it makes memorization easier, you can sing the notes, or you can listen to a recording.
“There is Faint Music” Auditions will be Monday. If you are interested please find the music on Musetta https://qmc.musetta.org/folders/502 in the SINGERS-->2016 WINTER folder.
We're adding a new gig on Dec 1....see the calendar below!!!
Our December 1 gig at IU Art Museum and the Oct 9 gig in Indy have been postponed/ canceled. The Oct 9 gig at church is still on the calendar.
