a note from Jana
A few things I thought you might find amusing,
encouraging, or helpful on your journey.
August 2020

New look, new name, same management!

If you missed last month's note, here's the skinny: will continue to exist, and all my best real-food recipes are still collected there, but I'm launching a new website to focus on the bigger picture of changing our lifestyles. The new website is at, but it's titled "Camp Jana - explore new trails to a healthier you."

So I'm updating the look and focus of this monthly missive to jive with that.

Let me introduce you to the new site...

Here are a few things I wrote with you in mind.

About the day my #momfail led to a meltdown, and what that has to do with you. How you eat is how you feel.

Everyone who signs up for this monthly note gets access to my "Insider's Library." Maybe you've visited it, maybe you haven't. But to celebrate my new site, I've added a new item to the library: "30 mantras to keep you going (when you want to quit)". These are the sayings, reminders, and questions that kept me motivated on my own journey. To get yours, visit the library and use the password NEWPATH. Then download the "30 Mantras" pdf -- and anything else you want.

Just for :)

It's okay to fall apart. Tacos fall apart and we still love them.

Newsflash: You don't have to earn your rest.

We know that too much stress and too little rest isn't good for our overall health. But one thing I've also found to be true is that when I'm running on empty, I'm more likely to be grumpy with the people around me, and make poor decisions -- especially concerning food.

It's taken me a while to learn how to rest without feeling like I need to jump up and do something. Or like I can only rest when I finish my to-do list. Here's the problem with that: Only God gets His to-do list done! So I need to stop playing God, accept my human limits, and take the rest my mind and body were designed to need.

if you're resting but spend the time feeling guilty, you're not really resting.

I hope you're finding ways to really rest! Are you? Tell me about it. Or tell me about your struggle to rest. I read every email, and I really want to hear!

Happy trails!
