GRACE

Regular self-care isn't selfish: it helps ensure that you have the energy to keep on going. And it helps feeds your body and soul in ways that are truly satisfying -- so you'll be less likely to turn to a quick junk food rush.

Here's a short list of ideas I found. Personally, I'd put sleep first, every day! Which other one would you pick today?

TRUTH

Have you ever heard the "statistic" that 95% of dieters regain the weight within a few months or years? Pretty discouraging, huh? There's just one problem...

It's not true.

A story published in The New York Times dug into this statement that's been passed around since 1959, and discovered -- like so much other health info  we assume is true -- that it was based on one small study, decades old, that's not broadly applicable.

But that statistic was so shocking, it got passed around like celebrity gossip, and eventually was just accepted as fact. In fact, one Yale researcher called it "the most frequently quoted statement in obesity literature." That means the experts were accepting it, too.

However, a more recent study searching a broader population found plenty of success stories. In this survey, those people who did succeed had maintained a 67-pound weight loss, on average, for five years. And more than 10 percent of them maintained a loss of more than 100 pounds.

You can find the entire 1999 article in New York Times.

GOOD FOOD

This little recipe has been my breakfast for most of this summer. It's so nice in the morning to just pour a couple things into a bowl and go at it! If you're cutting down on sugar and carbs but you miss or haven't been able to give up breakfast cereal, this might just rock your world, too!

sugar-free grain-free granola breakfast cereal

It's sugar-free, grain-free (so of course, gluten-free), and like 99% of my recipes, so easy to make! It's made stove-top, so you don't even need to heat up the oven.

It's sweetened with stevia, and you can adjust the sweetness level to your liking. It can even fit into a keto diet, if that's how you roll these days.

The recipe: Cinnamon grain-free granola or cereal

P.S. Here's a peek into my sketchbook; working on some illustrations for a meal plan mini-book I hope to have available this fall!
