Kathmandu Donations
At the end of 2011, the students at Nedlands Primary School, Mount Hawthorn Primary School and staff from the Fiona Wood Foundation at RPH and PMH were very generous in donating over 40kg of pencils and stationery to help slum kids in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The materials were delivered to the Bikalpa Aagan School in the Shantinigar slum area of Kathmandu. Each of the 70 children were given a pencil case filled with great supplies and lots of extra materials were donated to the teachers. The kids and teaches were extremely happy and loved their gifts. The school was simply a large 'room' with a plastic roof and mats on the ground. Thank you everyone!

At school we have to bring a mug, a towel and a handkerchief because we use them every day to be healthy and safe from germs.

The Principal's Message

Students from Year 3 Room 10 with Mrs Voysey
Parents and Carers are invited to attend our School Open Morning  on  Thursday 25 October 2012 from 8.00am to 10.00am. This is an opportunity to view your child's work and enjoy performances by the School Orchestra and Choir.
The process of placing students in possible class structures for 2013 commences this term. As a government school we take enrolments from Kindergarten to Year 7 throughout the year and our numbers fluctuate. This necessitates the school running a number of possible structures up until the next school year commences. Importantly, the teachers meet throughout fourth term to follow a comprehensive process, looking at a number of criteria, including academic, social and behavioural. To view the Placement Policy, which guides the placement of students, click  HERE
Our school has registered for the City of Vincent "Cash for Cans" initiative. The scheme will run until the end of the year, and for each aluminium can collected the school will receive 10 cents to a maximum of $2,000.  A recycling cage is located at the entrance to the Junior School staff carpark, please deposit  your used aluminium cans in this container.
In Term 4 each year, the students from Pre-primary to Year 7 enjoy weekly sessions of contemporary dance, provided by the Edudance company dance teachers, in our undercover area. Dance allows students to gain life long skills in a cooperative environment with their peers, and the program is also a component of physical fitness for students. The program culminates in a series of performances for the parents at the end of term.  Jen Townesnd
Online Canteen is now live! Visit to sign up and order your child's lunch. Remember that you can order up to 2 weeks in advance and cut off  time is 8.30am. Please note that food items which require day before ordering, such as sushi, will continue to be available in the pre-ordered format and must still be ordered the day before.
Our re-enrolments open on the 16 October 2012 and forms will be available from OSCA at the undercroft. Enrolment forms for 2013 are now available at OSCA. Existing families continuing care must return their enrolment form by Friday 15 November 2012 to retain their existing care arrangements or if you  wish to cancel care complete a Notification of Cessation of Care Form, available from the Centre. This will assist staff with administration of enrolments for 2013.
New families have until Monday 4 December 2012 to submit completed enrolment forms.
Due to strong demand, all families are advised that enrolments will be processed in accordance with OSCA Enrolment Policy. This means that consideration will be given to the order that enrolments are received, existing arrangements, priority of access and processing guidelines. Therefore parents are encouraged to complete and submit enrolment forms early. Wilma Gouws Director

 Year 6 Art Exhibition
At the end of  Term 3 the Year 6 students held a poetry night demonstrating several genres of poetry. In conjunction with this evening, an art exhibition was held, highlighting different media the students have experienced through the Visual Arts Programme. Students exhibited work in the style of Picasso using water colour pencils and creating ceramic hands allowed students to show off their creative side. We also looked at the art style of 3 different Aboriginal Artists to produce some beautiful canvasses.
Terrific Tapestry
Rooms 12, 14 and 15 persevered all term to create the most amazing tapestries, which have been sewn into little cushions. They are on display in the art room and classrooms.
I am looking for old hair dryers and a blender, all in working order. If you can donate any of these items, they  would be gratefully received.
Thankyou Rosie Edmiston
Year 4 Authors
All year four students wrote a letter to an author hoping to receive a letter back. E.g. R.A. Spratt, J.K.Rowling and Any Griffiths etc. We asked some questions about a book or series. Not many people have heard back yet but Mikaela received a post card, signed poster and bookmark from R.A. Spratt.
