Last night, the students in the Hawthorn Hummers and the Mount Hawthorn Orchestra performed in the WA Government Schools Society concert at the Crown Theatre. Well done to everyone.

Term 3 is always the busiest in school libraries all over Australia as we celebrate Children's Book Week (Week 5) and the joy of reading. Part of the official Book Week process is the nomination of the the best Australian children's books in a number of different categories. Our library teachers have been reading the beautiful selection of nominated books with our students as we prepare to hear on Friday, 15 August, which of those books have won prizes in their respective categories. We are also conducting our own poll on our favourite books in the Early Childhood and Picture Book categories. We will announce our MHPS favourites at the assembly at the close of Book Week, on Friday, 22 August. If you are interested in having a look at the nominated titles, please click
HERE.
We hope that your children enjoy the various activities that are happening in and around Book Week, such as The Great Book Swap, Dress Up Day and The Book Fair. Book Fair (Week 6)promises to be a great event as we are using our favourite book seller (Lamont Books) who is tailoring the stock to our interests. The commission is generous which means that we will be able to source more beautiful books for your children to share.
Detailed information on all these events is available on the website, but as always, we are happy to answer any of your questions. We can be contacted via phone 9242 3677 or email
Madeleine or
Julie. Thanks for your ongoing support of our Library.
