What playful projects are Liz Nichols into these days?

Dear <<First Name>>,

Tis spring, tis spring, the bird is on the wing.
My how absurd - I thought the wing was on the bird!

That's how my family passed down that little rhyme - at least as best as I can remember.  Like all folk lore, there's no one right version. Email me if you know another, and let's see how many variations we can collect!

"Known as “The Queen of Storytelling Festivals”, our festival brings a line-up of talented, nationally recognized storytellers to the Schoolhouse stages. People have told stories since the beginning of time and our storytellers keep the tradition alive, voicing the narratives of life, our histories and traditions, our reasons for living, our hopes and dreams."

That's how this amazing festival, now in its 34th year, describes itself. I've been to it numerous times over the years. I adore it, and the magical Nevada City/South Yuba River region where it takes place. And this summer, I am honored and humbled to announce that I will be up on its stage! I'll be the "guest teller", invited from the local community, to perform at the Friday and Saturday evening concerts, along with all the amazing featured tellers drawn from across the country.

I hope I'll see some of you there - and if you email me, I might just have a lead on a place to stay. (Nearby lodgings sell out way ahead every year so don't wait too long.) Learn more at the Sierra Storytelling Festival website and the area tourism bureau. Early bird discounts end July 1st - buy your tickets early!

This opportunity feels like the answer to an inner call to focus more on my storytelling in 2019. I'll still be keeping up my Laughter Yoga schedule, but my kids and family yoga classes will be winding up this month, returning in the fall perhaps on a more limited basis. So family yogis, don't miss this Sunday's class (details below)!

Read on to find out more of what I'm up to. I hope our paths will cross in the coming months. Meantime I wish you a bounty of spring and summer adventures.

Liz

I am a proud member of the volunteer Asian Art Museum Storytellers. K-6 teachers, check out our great field trip tours. While I don't have any public tours coming up soon, come along with one of my colleagues any Sunday, especially on Target Sunday (FREE ADMISSION the first Sunday of the month) or Family Fun Day (third Sunday of the month). They will tell you the story - myths and folktales - behind the art. Details here.

I am super-excited to be co-presenting a workshop, "Once Upon a Gallery," featuring this unique program, at the annual National Storytelling Summit, which will be held in the Bay Area for the first time at the end of July. If you have ANY interest in storytelling, this is an event not to miss. You can even come for just one day - it's July 25-28 at the Fremont Marriott Silicon Valley.
