By portraying the banal, Charlotte Bouckaert wants to pay tribute to the everyday objects that surround us. No matter how average or insignificant an object is, when they are used in a playful way the wheels of our imagination start turning. During 'Mind The Artist', Charlotte Bouckaert wants to explore the museum as an open studio. She brings her work table to the room with 17th century still lives. She gets inspired by the exhibited paintings and transforms them until they start to live.

For the project ‘Periphery’, five artists and one artist duo have created new, semi-permanent work in the peripheral areas of the church and chapel. Meryem Bayram plays with the correlations between sonic tones and geometry, mathematical relationships and light. The artist has placed a series of wooden circles in a hidden corridor that in the past was reserved for the monks of the former monastery. With the placement of these abstract objects, the artist visualises the dimensions of the corridor and challenges our perspective of space and the passing of time. In the daylight we experience the purity of the wooden circles, enhanced by a subtle light installation. At dusk, the light installation activates the geometric forms to the rhythm of the tertius, quartus and sextus: sonic tones that were used by ancient stonemasons as part of a means of measurement. SUPERSTUDIO is an artists' initiative of Katleen Vinck. During Antwerp Art Weekend she organises a group show in the monumental hall of her studio. In the former transformer station she invites artists with whom she feels a kinship for different reasons. All these artists are involved in an Antwerp gallery or organisation. The works of Leyla Aydoslu are often a deconstruction of architectural building elements adapted to the scale of the human body and of the space in which the work is displayed. She searches the streets for potentially interesting objects, often remnants of building materials, which she then experimentally transforms into constructions and sculptural installations that can be either robust or elegant in nature. A Walk in High Resolution is a walk piece throughout Antwerp. Walking together in silence is not only a set of encounters staged as art, but a political act. With this Walk Piece, David Bergé proposes an altered kind of perception of the city: one that will cut through the fabric of Antwerp, to then stitch it back together again by our shared act of walking. This event is part of the Antwerp Art Weekend 2021.
There is a maximum of 7 participants for each walk / time slot. Please, book your place in advance by sending an email to press@out-of-sight.be, providing your name, contact number and time choice.
