RTO7's COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update & Resources

March 16, 2020
Knowledge is very important right now. RTO7 is working to gather information from only three sources to ensure that what we are sharing is accurate and up to date.  We source:
  • W.H.O. – World Health Organization
  • Government of Canada Health agencies
  • Province of Ontario Health agencies
The information we share in summaries are meant to give you a head start. Please do not rely on the summaries as the ‘be all and end all’ of information; use the links to stay informed and to share.
We will also try not to share information that is not needed right now to help stop the spread of COVID-19.  Later, we will shift to information that you will need to understand about recovery assistance when it becomes available.
RTO7 is in touch weekly with the Minister and daily with the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Cultural Industries.  We have provided input on the current situation around the region and we have been providing input along with our many peers throughout the industry on recovery strategies. Through TIAO, RTO7 has provided input for the Federal response as well.  RTO7 and all of our partners throughout the region and province are working to assist you in your recovery.

Social distancing

What is Social Distancing?
You should minimize exposure to others – avoid social practices such as shaking hands, hugging or other greetings that involve touching – as well as maintaining an expanded personal space (2 meters - 6 feet distance).
Avoid crowded areas such as pubs, restaurants, shopping malls and other such areas. If you do need to visit a public space, avoid congregating closely with others and limit your time spent in the space. Wash your hands when leaving.
Do not travel (personal or business related). Avoid airplanes, cruise ships, trains and buses.
If you must use public transit – limit usage, maintain expanded personal space and wash your hands after using.
Consciously reduce the frequency of touching your face (we touch our faces 2,000 to 3,000 times a day).
Be vigilant with personal hygiene – hand washing, hand washing, hand washing.
Please find a new link below that addresses Social Distancing.
We will keep you informed of further major happenings as they become known.  Staying informed, applying and monitoring continuous sanitary practices in both the workplace and at home are important steps to weathering this difficult period of time.
RTO7, with support from the Provincial Government and their agencies and our many partners across the region, are committed to providing you, the stakeholders, with as much support as we can.
