Dear <<First Name>>,

Season of new life
It is springtime. After a long winter, nature around us is blooming again. At Forerunner too, it feels as if we have entered a season of new life after a "winter" of inward work on the basics. Several projects have left in the past six months at Forerunner and new ones have taken their place. As a board, we are happy to get to know these people and we are excited about their vision, enthusiasm and love for Jesus. We would love to introduce you to these wonderful new projects soon, so keep an eye on your mailbox

Water and soil
At the start of this year, we showed you some pictures of the land we bought in India. Land which is an answer to years of prayer, and on this land we hope (finally) to be able to build a house for the 39 children and young people who are being cared for by the Jena family. We invited you to invest together in this building project and how surprised we were by your generosity! How wonderful that we can sow into this together.
We are super happy to show that the first steps have been taken. The contracts with the builder have been signed, and construction has started! On the very same day part of the roof of the old house collapsed, that really feels like a confirmation that it is time for the new one!

Prayer request for Myanmar
We are receiving messages from David and his family from Myanmar that they are experiencing fearful times. As you may have seen in the news, the military has staged a coup there and there is no longer a democracy. The people are demonstrating, but they are being brutally suppressed by the military.

David asks for prayer for his family and (church) relatives. He says the country is in the grip of fear as the military regime becomes increasingly violent in oppressing the people. They can hardly sleep at night because every night there is shooting and people are dragged from their homes. Villages of (Christian) minority groups like the Karen and Rohingya are being burned down again by the military and families are fleeing into the forest. Pastors of churches are shot, almost no one dares to bring news of what is happening to the outside world for fear of reprisals. We are therefore not putting this message on the website and ask you not to spread it just like that. Below is a short photo report.

Stand with our brothers and sisters in need
Near David, there are 100 families whose houses have been burned down by the army and who have fled into the forest. He has already begun to help them with food, even though he already has little himself and it poses a danger to him and his family if it is discovered. If you would like to help him buy food for them you can make a donation to FR202, please mention emergency aid Myanmar.

What to pray when there is persecution?
We would like to share with you what these Christians are praying in an incredibly difficult and fearful situation, and what they are asking us to pray for them. Are they praying for the persecution to stop? Are they sending powers and forces away in Jesus name, in order to "claim" their easy lives again in Jesus name? No...
They are asking us to pray that God will use this shaking to break centuries-old strongholds over the land so that people will be free to meet the King. They ask, " finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as [it is] with you,  and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.”. (2Th 3:1-2 NKJV)
They literally say, 'We pray that believers will rise up courageously in this hour and show Jesus as the only way to peace and deliverance. Lord, be exalted in this land! Deliver us and protect us under your wings. Let your peace rest upon us. Give that this is the hour of deliverance from strongholds! That many Burmese may find You and proclaim that You are the one true God, above all human powers and forces. Let Your perfect peace drive out all fear'.

I am moved to tears by this...what a difference from what I hear prayed in western churches around me, when a (relatively light) shaking like the Corona crisis hits our lives. Please let us take an example from these brothers and sisters in Myanmar!
Let us stand with them in prayer. For Myanmar, but also for our own country. For the Netherlands, for America, wherever we live. Let us also beg God to use the shaking to break ancient strongholds so that the light of King Jesus breaks through into the darkness!

What is Forerunner?

We exist to establish prayer and justice in the nations. We work together with friends, organizations and ministries around the world to see this vision become reality.
