Dear <<First Name>>,

During the vacation season, the world always seems to spin a little slower. Many people are taking vacations, schools are closed, various programs are paused.

Yet there are also processes that continue to run quickly and some Forerunner projects are even  extra active during the summer, such as various street evangelism projects.
  • Health for the nations for example, is organizing an evangelism outreach in Amsterdam for 21 days right now. From Wednesday, August 11 through Tuesday, August 31, H4N is working with God's Embassy, Ywam and others during 'The Great Search'.
  • Europe Outreach went on a mission trip to Eastern Europe where they worked with local churches and evangelized on the streets.
  • Awakening the Nations is having another province trip this summer. They testify that some people have worked in Turkey for years without seeing much fruit. But it seems like times are changing. God has given them several believers in the provinces who are hungry and are also sharing the gospel themselves.
  • Serving the city was finally able to get started in July and August, with a dream that had been in development for a long time. Priesthood: a (pop-up) cafe in the middle of Amsterdam where it is all about faith and coming together. You can follow them on instagram.
  • In India, construction continues at lightning speed on the New Grace Home. It is going faster than expected and are already working on the roof as you can see in the pictures below! So much has been financed already and we are very grateful to have been able to get this far. Thank you to all who contributed to make this dream come true for the Jena family and the children they care for. But we are not there yet... For the next payment €13.500 is still needed. The next newsletter will be completely about New Grace Home, so keep an eye on your inbox! In the meantime, would you considering donating so we are able to continue building?
Slowed down by God
In addition to these projects that are in full swing, we also hear from several missionaries that God is just giving them a moment to pause... He is bringing them back to the basics: relationship with Him and relationship with those closest to them. If all goes well, we all have moments or seasons like this on a regular basis. Jesus then reminds us of what He says in John 15:3 'abide in Me, and I will abide in you. A vine that does not remain on the vine cannot by itself bear fruit. So you cannot bear fruit if you do not abide in Me.'

One of our projects described such a season as "re-sourcing" and I think that is a wonderful term. So quickly and almost automatically we sometimes move away from the source from which all life springs. Then, there are no more streams of life coming from your inside, but you give and give out of your own good intentions and compassion... until you are empty.

Abiding
This "abiding in Jesus" is at the heart of our lives as followers of Jesus. We long to bear fruit... and especially when people are missionaries, this is often expected by the people around them and their support base. But fruit is not the same as a full program that you can describe in your newsletter (although that program can be a great tool of course).

Bearing fruit is about love growing in our hearts, fruit of the Holy Spirit maturing in our lives. People around us being changed by meeting God in us. Jesus himself names the core of life with God as "Love God above all things and your neighbor as yourself".

And anyone who has small children (or a partner or roommates or friends) knows: love takes time! It cannot be superficial, it cannot be quickly ticked off your list, it cannot grow on the run. Living from love takes time. Time to wait on God - by the way, Korinthe Ministries has a great video about that. Time to listen to others and respond. Being present in the here and now, where the encounter takes place.
Conversations at pop-up cafe Priesthood in Amsterdam.
Distraction... or the core?
Jesus is our example in this. He had the most important calling of us all! Yet He did not begin His ministry until He was 30... when the season for it had come. And in his 3 years of ministry, He took whole nights to go away and be with His Father. He took time to embrace and bless the children. He took time to discuss the quarrels of His disciples, to have dinner at the home of a corrupt tax official.

Indeed, for Him to meet God and people in love was not a distraction from His calling...it was the core of His calling! And He calls us to follow Him. It sometimes seems like it's becoming a big mess when we surrender to love, but God sees something different.

Without love I am nothing
If we all achieve wonderful things and we lose sight of that love then it is all worth nothing. When we no longer have time to wait on God, to stop for that one person in need, to listen to what's on our children's minds... then something is wrong.
Even if I spoke the languages of men and of angels, but I did not have love, I would have become a sounding brass or a sounding cymbal.

And even if I had the gift of prophecy and knew all mysteries and possessed all knowledge, and even if I had all faith so that I would move mountains, but I did not have love, I would be nothing.

And though I would distribute all my possessions for the sustenance of the poor, and though I would surrender my body to be burned, but I did not have the love, it availed me nothing. 1 Corinthiens 13:1-3
What season are you living in?
Are you currently in a season of growth, busyness and activity? Or are you being shut down? Are you in a season where you have to let go of things or where you are given new responsibilities? For everything there is a time, says Ecclesiastes, and in every situation God wants to make Himself known to us in a new way. Be aware of the season in which God is placing you right now and consider what He wants to teach you in this season... And if you don't know right away? Then dare to wait for God.

The lyrics below are taken from an awesome song about waiting on the Lord 'All my devotion'. He is so worthy of our time and attention.
We wish you God's love, wisdom and peace and above all... that you may grow in "abiding in Him" so that you will bear abundant fruit.

Blessings, the Forerunner team
