New Leadership at CalWEP

In January, we announced the
transition of Executive Director Mary Ann Dickinson (she will be returning to full time with the Alliance for Water Efficiency.) After an extensive search for our new Executive Director, we are delighted to announce Sarah Foley and Tia Lebherz as Co-Executive Directors. Sarah will oversee operations while Tia will manage CalWEP's external affairs.

This decision received the full support and enthusiasm of our staff, board and valued members from our wider community. Sarah and Tia will start as Co-EDs on July 1st.

AB 533 Becomes 2-Year Bill

AB 533, a bill to make turf replacement rebates exempt for state income tax was held in suspense in the appropriations committee last week and will now be a two-year bill. While disappointing, CalWEP and our allies at the Metropolitan Water District and WaterNow Alliance will keep pursuing this policy change. Thank you to everyone who wrote letters or signed on to our broad coalition. Watch out for more updates on next steps and how to stay involved.

Thank you Penny Falcon and Diana Brooks!

The CalWEP Board of Directors bid a bittersweet goodbye to Penny Falcon (LADWP) and Diana Brooks (DWR).

Both Penny and Diana recently retired and are on to more vacations and time with family. While we're sad to see them go, we welcome Terrance McCarthy (LADWP) and Peter Brostrom (DWR) to the CalWEP Board to fill their vacancies and complete their terms. We thank Penny and Diana for their years of service to CalWEP and wish them well!
