February 2020 - TANGO NEWSLETTER
Dear <<First Name>>

The Oceania Tango Congress & Championship 2020 has been postponed because of the continuing health emergency of the corona virus in China. This will make travelling to Asia and to Asian tango festivals very difficult, if not impossible, in the coming months. I am sure many will be disappointed but the organisers have presented this championship before and I feel sure it will resurface when this threat has subsided.

Most of us are reeling from the bushfire crisis as well!
If not firsthand then many would know someone who has been directly affected. We hope this will lead to better preparation for summer in the future.

Meanwhile we can dance! we can donate to the causes who are working to help those at home to restore their lives and businesses (as some of our milongas have already done) and we can spend our money here in the Australian economy.

We hope that when the time comes to put together the March TangoAustralia newsletter the news is more positive. Meanwhile we hope you stay safe and well as we move into another year.
Best wishes,

The organisers have issued this statement
"After careful consideration, it is with great regret that we have decided to postpone the Oceania Tango Congress & Championship (OTCC), which was scheduled to be held 19th – 22nd March 2020.
Our decision is a direct consequence of the recent outbreak of the Corona virus in China and its spread throughout the world. The head office of the World Tango Championship in Buenos Aires has acknowledged the risks and supports our postponement decision."
