Another month has rolled on by and the countdown is now on to Christmas.
There’s still lots to be done before then though with Candle Bag packing at the end of November in preparation for Carols in the Domain, as well as planning for our young people's Christmas party.
The many successful programs which give our young people the opportunity to train and succeed in all aspects of life certainly aren't winding down, but rather gaining momentum with some great results!
Here’s a snapshot of what’s been happening at Oasis.
Education Centre
There are currently fifteen students attending the education centre and with the right amount of guidance and perseverance, outstanding results are achieved. Two young students have successfully completed Year 10 and are continuing on to Year 11. What a fantastic achievement!
Pathways to Employment
The Pathways program is in full swing for the second time this year. Pathways participants are on their own personal journeys with goals to succeed and employment in sight. Here's a glimpse of some personal goals set by previous successful Pathways participants.
Driving Program
With twenty young people enrolled in the Driving program, our dedicated driving instructors and students should be commended with three young people gaining their P plates in October. Congratulations and well done to all for such a grand effort!
Freeway
Freeway is a program run on Fridays and it's a time when the young people can head off site for a fun activity and some lunch together. It's a drug and alcohol free program that offers our young people the opportunity to choose to engage in an active, healthy lifestyle.
StreetMedia
The October/November photography course commenced with some budding new photographers on board.
The course has produced some very talented students in the past as can be seen in their works above.
Social Enterprise
The Oasis Cookie is being trialled as part of a social enterprise initiative. A batch has made it onto the front counter of a local café who is happy to assist with this first test run.
This initiative will open doors for the young people at Oasis, offering them training under the guidance of a qualified chef and providing valuable work skills.
With launch off aimed for 2016 this is another exiting new project for the young people at Oasis and all profits from the sale of the cookies will go directly to Oasis Youth Support Network.
