Autumn Tracker Courses

We still have a few places left on our October tracker courses. These are the Wilderness Immersion Course and the Woodland Tracker Course.
Our popular Immersion course quickly teaches you tracking, field-craft and naturalist skills to enable you to be embedded into the wonderful and ancient Hatfield Forest giving  you an amazing close-encounter experience with the wildlife found in the forest.
The Woodland Tracker will enhance your tracking skills and show you how to track
specifically in the tricky substrates of the Bristish woodland. Again, your wildlife encounters are almost guaranteed to be second to none, or at least you will be able to deduce what happened when you weren't there!. Don't miss these amazing courses.

Forest Tracker

We are excited to introduce the last in our series of wildlife tracker courses in the British environment. This promises to be an extraordinary course which brings all the previous tracker courses together and will expand and stretch your tracking skills to unimaginable heights. This may seem a little over-exagerated; but this course has been three years in the making. It promises to deliver not just tracking, nature awareness, and field-craft skills to new levels but also introduces trailing, paleo-movement and other enhanced wildlife observation and surveillance techniques.
If you would like to be considered for inclusion on the pilot for this course in November, please email Please note - you must have completed the Woodland Tracker Course or the Wilderness Immersion Course to be considered.

Welcome to our Autumn 2012 Newsletter

It can't be September already! Where did the summer go? Well the weather wasn't exactly great, but Woodlife Trails managed to keep afloat to deliver all the scheduled courses and attend all the shows.
But... that's not the end! We have a full course list throughout the Autumn and even some exciting new courses during the winter.

Warrener's Course

This is a brand new course due to be delivered by Woodlife Trails early next year. This unique countryman's course will teach you about the dying art and skills of warrening and ferreting.
This course is aimed at those who wish to revive and see these old skills, or those who wish to actively pursue or wish to start. No previous experience is necessary.
The course will take place in February (a date will be set soon) from Friday 6pm to Sunday 3pm. It will include a traditional game fair meal on Friday evening (other days self-catering) and will include how to prepare and cook game for the pot. You will get a chance to work the ferrets.
This course is expected to be well subscribed so please register an interest here.

Show of thanks...

A big thanks to all of you who have visited our Woodlife Trails stall during our show season.
Don't forget we can take our popular "Table of Death" nature exhibits to your school or establishment and provide an educational experience that your students will never forget.
We can make this as bespoke as you like which may include taking you for a wander in your own local woods to find our what's about.
Please contact us with your requirements from our website contacts page.

Expeditions Update

We are on track to recce a number of exciting locations in 2013.
Sweden has always been in our sights and so has Andalucia; but it is South Africa we really have our eyes on and we have very recently been in negotiations with an established wildlife company in SA who can promise bespoke adventures to suit our needs.
During 2013 we hope to work up an exciting wildlife tracking course on foot near the Kruger National Park. It may even involve anti-poaching skills which will directly contribute to Rhino and Elephant conservation in that area.
To express an interest in any of these expeditions go to our Overseas Expeditions page.

Family Bushcraft & Tracking

Our Family Bushcraft and Tracking season is now all but over; but we will be adding more dates for early next spring.
These Family days are always popular so you are encouraged to book early. We usually run the day courses once a month on a Sunday from March to July at Hatfield forest.
Register an interest for the Family Bushcraft days here or for the Family Bushcraft weekend here and you will get a priority reservation (subject to Terms & Conditions.)

...And Finally...

Have a look at our main website There is something there for everyone.
As always leave a comment or join the Woodlife Network Community (it's free!) and discover a new world of Bushcraft, Tracking and Natural History.
Have a great autumn.
