COPA WINS AT SKYTRAX WORLD AIRLINE AWARDS

Copa has been voted the Best Airline in Central America / Caribbean, for a fifth consecutive year, and the Best Airline Staff in Central America / Caribbean, for a fourth year in the 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards. The awards, considered among the most prestigious in the aviation industry, were presented during the Paris Air Show in France.

The World Airline Awards are managed by the international air transport qualification organisation, Skytrax Research of London, which is dedicated to the analysis and comparison of different airlines and airports in 14 regions of the world. For these results, Skytrax administered an important customer service survey, which evaluated key indicators of quality, performance, overall travel experience and passenger satisfaction.

The survey, better known as the "Passenger’s Choice Awards," was conducted between September 2018 and May 2019, and received 21.65 million responses from participants in over 100 countries, who determined the best airline in each category.

IATA UPDATES RESOLUTION 830D TO FACILITATE COMMUNICATION WITH PASSENGERS DURING IRREGULAR OPERATIONS

IATA (International Air Transport Association) has made changes to the Resolution 830d, related to the procedures that accredited travel agencies must follow during the process of ticket reservation.

The updates became effective 1st June 2019. The objective of the changes is to facilitate communication with the passengers, mainly during irregular involuntary operations.

Travel agents should actively ask each passenger if they authorise providing their contact information so that passengers will be informed appropriately about schedule changes caused by an irregular operation.

  • If the passenger accepts to provide their contact data, enter the information in the PNR, in compliance with the IATA Resolutions and the respective GDS format.
  • Where the passenger does not wish to provide contact information, the agent must actively advise that they may not receive information relating to flight cancellation or schedule changes, including delay or early departures.
