Prentice Coaches Ltd - a selection of our various sizes of coaches

It was 20 years ago today.....

Happy Birthday to us!!

Welcome to our 1st newsletter.

It was indeed 20 years ago today, the opening line from The Beatles Sgt Pepper..., that we carried our first passengers. We started with one coach when, after working for Ian Glass for many years, my father found himself working for Lowland Scottish as Ian had sold his business to them. Used to working for a family business he quickly decided that this was not for him and Don Prentice Coaches was born. Twenty years later we now run 17 coaches ranging in size from 24 seats up to our largest coaches which can carry 70 passengers.
On the 1st June 1991 we took a group to Blackpool, today 20 years later as well as our ten Home to School routes we have coaches going to The Hirsel, Linlithgow Palace, the Playhouse Theatre and we are transporting 10 local schools to Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh for the Inter Schools Sports Day.
Over the years we have earned a reputation for  providing our customers with the very latest coaches always presented in immaculate condition with friendly, knowledgeable and skilled drivers. This has led to us being recognised as one of the leading coach operators in the country.

Did You Know?
We run one of the few full size Wheelchair Accessable Coaches in the South East of Scotland

Since we installed our "Rainwater Harvesting System" in 2008 we have only used Rainwater in our coach wash
In the last year our fleet of coaches covered over 300,000 miles, the equivilent of over 12 times around the Earth!

It could only happen to a coach driver....

Last Monday during the extremely stormy weather that we experienced across most of the country two of our coaches were taking the first of three school groups to Ardentinny Outdoor Centre near Dunoon. After a rough crossing taking the children across the drivers then came back across on the last ferry before they stopped running. One of our drivers was so worried that they might not make it back to the mainland that he phoned his wife from the ferry to make sure she knew where his life insurance policy was!!!

Needless to say both coaches and drivers made it across the Firth of Clyde safely and made the other two journeys, on Wednesday & Friday, without incident.

Our new Inspection Pit

Further Investment:

Improved maintenence facilities:
We recently had a new Inspection Pit installed in our workshop by Everquip Garage Equipment to further improve both our workshop facilities and to improve our ability to maintain our vehicles to the very highest standards. The inspection pit came in two steel sections, and once lowered into place the entrance tunnel was welded to the main pit and then the pre-installed electrics and air systems were connected. The pit was then surrounded by 35 cubic metres of concrete, this was done in 4 pours to ensure maximum strength of the new pit and exisiting floor.
