The Farms' Offerings 101
The days may be getting shorter, but the harvest is coming in longer and stronger from a summer that just won't quit.
Peppers are at their peak now from both Happy Boy
produce and Ibarra Organics
. Look out especially for Happy Boy's Sweet Shishido Peppers and Spicy Padron Peppers. Sweet, spicy and antsy to be fried up by you.
It's only a matter of weeks before sun shortened days, cooler nights and rain, will bring an end to the great tomatoes we have been getting the past two months. So stock up on Dry Farmed tomatoes from Thomas Farms
peaches are just a memory, but the pears are still sweet and full of summer goodness and a few more pluots and plums are coming off the trees along with the leaves.
Apples from Smit Organic Orchards
are hitting their peak with all of your favorites including Pippins (think pies), Fujis (think lunch boxes) and those ever sweet Galas for between meal snacks.
If apples are here than my favorite persimmons (Fuyu) can't be far behind. We love to peel and slice these and throw them into our salads. At J& J
Ranch this fruit will put some Fall color on your table.
There's so much more to Fall than a little more night and a little less day.
