Good Evening Dear Customers

It's that point in the year when everything seems to speed up, in the hectic dash towards the Yuletide. We're hoping that you'll find this newsletter, and our website, of some help in choosing the bottles you lay in for the festive season.

You can shop online and choose to pick up your purchase from our city centre location, with orders being processed overnight (same day if you shop early). If you're shopping spirits, that's 23 Bath Street, and for WIne & Beer, it's 105 West Nile Street.

Orders for collection from 21 Clarence Drive are sent over once a week, on a Wednesday, so you have three more dates available (the 8th, 15th, and 22nd).

We also use DHL Express for national and international orders. Nearly all domestic deliveries are fulfilled overnight, but, particularly at this time of year, DHL does not guarantee a next day service, so don't leave it to the last minute. Based on previous years, we recommend that orders for courier delivery should be placed no later than noon on Tuesday the 21st of December. We will of course continue to ship right up to Christmas Eve.

And, with that housekeeping out of the way, please do read on for news of new whiskies, gins, rums, vermouths, and tequila, or go take a look at our website to see our full range of products.

The Good Spirits Co.

Sweetdram Arran 8 Year Old (£70, 70cl/59.9%)
Edinburgh based Sweetdram have been making a range of interesting liquids for several years, and now they're moving into the whisky bottling business, starting with a rich, sherry cask matured young Arran.

Ardnamurchan AD/10.21:06 (£48.50, 70cl/46.8%)
This is the autumn batch of Ardnamurchan's flagship malt. It's a fruity, full bodied dram with a wee dab of smoke to it.

Lindores "The Casks of Lindores - Bourbon" (£55, 70cl/49.4%)
The first of a series of limited releases which will explore the different types of cask used at Lindores, this is a fresh, gristy malt with a sweet attack and a drying, spicy finish.

Sweetdram Ledaig 16 Year Old (£84, 70cl/57.7%)
We love Ledaig, so we're very excited to have this outstanding expression on our shelves. "Lemon drizzle, seaweed and maple streaky bacon."

Single Cask Nation Paul John 4 Year Old (£85.50, 70cl/57.6%)
At four years old—young by Scotch standards—this is a fine example of fully mature spirit from the Paul John distillery in Goa, India.

Redwood Empire "Lost Monarch" (£49.50, 70cl/45%)
A Californian blend of straight bourbon and straight rye, with absolutely the best label we've seen all year. Tasty, too: soft, rounded caramel, with gentle rye bread and spice notes.

West Cork Bog Oak Charred Cask (£36, 70cl/43%)
Part of an experimental series from West Cork Distillers, this is a sherry matured single malt which has been finished in virgin oak casks which have been charred by burning bog oak. The result is a spicy, sweet dram, with a mouth coating texture and a peppery note in the finish. Fascinating stuff.

Pike Creek Rum Finish 10 Year Old (£29.50, 70cl/42%)
An easy going sipper - delicious over a single huge ice cube.

LBD "projectQUERCUSACER" (£41.50, 50cl/50.2%)
A wee limited edition experiment from Little Brown Dog, this gin has been barrel aged in a maple syrup cask.

J G Thomson Citrus Dry Gin (£36.50, 70cl/46%)
J G Thomson have a range of tasty products, including whisky, rum and this clasically styled citrus-forward dry gin.

Galloway Gin 2021 (£40, 70cl/40%)
Crafty Distillery's annual limited edition gin made using 100% hand foraged Galloway botanicals.

Illicit Cask Aged Sloe Gin (£27, 70cl/40%)
Glasgow distillers Illicit have combined sloe with coffee and orange peel to make a delicious sweet fruity gin. We haven't mulled it yet, but we're going to.

Uhuru XO Caribbean Rum (£37.50, 70cl/44%)
A new expression of Venezuelan rum from Edinburgh independent bottlers Young Spirits. Floral and lifted on the nose, the palate is broad and sweet and far too easy to drink.

Rivers Royale Grenadian Rum (£85, 70cl/69%)
This was a huge hit at our recent Sustainability tasting. Deliciously funky, it makes a wonderful high proof Daiquiri.

Single Cask Nation Foursquare 2010 (£64.50, 70cl/55.9%)
Foursquare is the hot property amongst rum fans right now, the distillery which really excites the collectors, so this single cask bottling won't last. Best get in quick.

Cabal 1513 (£40, 70cl/43%)
A full bodied sipping rum aged in ex sherry barrels. "Surrender to a dance with fruity tones cut by sherry cask smoke." We're not quite sure exactly what this means, but it is most definitely a tasty drop.

You have to love a drinks producers whose four values (on the "Philosophy" page of their website) include "Laziness & Loyalty", and, "Alchemy". 'Course, it helps that their vermouths are delicious.

Montanaro Extra Dry (£27, 75cl/18%)
Bracingly bone dry, and crying out to be used in a Martini.

Montanaro Rosso (£25.50, 75cl/16%)
A rich sweet vermouth. Lovely over ice or in a Manhattan (we'll report back on the Rob Roys shortly).

Arquitecto Blanco (£32.50, 70cl/42.5%)
New on our shelves, Arquitecto is a 100% blue agave tequila produced using agave from the estate of architect Enrique Fonseca (hence the label). Arquitecto is partnered with s.a.c.r.e.d., a US based charity which "helps improve lives in the rural Mexican communities where heirloom agave spirits are made."

Oh yes, and it also makes a mighty fine Paloma.
