Last Week of Baby Animals!
Open Thursday–Sunday, 10 am–3 pm through June 28

Don’t miss the chance to see baby goats, calves, lambs, chicks, ducks, and the unofficial stars of the show – ten baby piglets, just weeks old. Come breathe in the fresh Berkshire air, see the animals romp in their outdoor enclosures, eat a farm-to-table meal at Seeds Market Café, and shop for handmade treasures in Shaker Mercantile. To reserve advance tickets, click here. No admission is required to dine or shop.

We’ll be closed June 29 through at least July 5. Updates will be posted on our website.

Berkshire Natural Resources Council announces the opening of the Mahanna Cobble trail in Pittsfield!

The trailhead is located at Bousquet ski area—look for the informational kiosk and blue-blazed route to the left of the base lodge. This is definitely a hike to add to the top of your list.

The entire out-and-back hike is 2.8 miles. Hikers climb approximately 600 feet to reach the stone bench dedicated to BNRC’s founding director, George Wislocki, and enjoy the long vista of uninterrupted forest. All BNRC reserves are open to everyone, for free, every day, from dawn to dusk.

This brand new route to Mahanna Cobble was funded by BNRC donors. Many BNRC volunteers and staff assisted in the design of this sustainably-built trail, with some portions constructed by OBP Trailworks LLC.

BNRC has partnered with Mill Town, who recently purchased the Bousquet ski area and is focused on expanding outdoor recreation opportunities at Bousquet and around the Berkshires. Future hiking opportunities will feature Bousquet as a trailhead for the northern section of BNRC’s High Road Yokun Ridge hike, which will connect a variety of trails and conservation lands along the ridge and into town centers.

OLLI's Annual Mona Sherman Memorial Lecture to be Held Online on Thursday, June 25th

For the past decade, the Mona Sherman Memorial Lecture series has featured extraordinary nationally known writers and commentators: past speakers have included Cokie Roberts, Jim Acosta, Mika Brzezinski, Joe Klein, Katy Tur and others. The lectures were established to honor the memory of former OLLI at BCC board President Mona Sherman. They have always been free and open to the public but this year, for the first time, it will be held online.

For the 11th annual Mona Sherman Memorial Lecture, OLLI, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Berkshire Community College, is honored to present bestselling author, commentator and former presidential speechwriter David Frum, in conversation with Berkshire Eagle publisher Frederic Rutberg. The lecture is sponsored by Berkshire Gas and in partnership with the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center. The conversation will be held on the Zoom platform Thursday, June 25 at 7 pm. Online pre-registration is required and may be done here>>
