NOVEMBER Teach-In Recap; DECEMBER Events and more!
Dear friends and fellow magicians,
This Zig Zag highlights upcoming November/December/January events, and recaps our November Teach-In.
This week seems to be the official start of holiday gift buying. Support your local small business magic shops!
Both Haines House of Cards in Norwood, and Arties Magic Shop in Covington, will be open on "Black Friday" and also Saturday!
They both have amazing magic deals available for purchase. Buy some this week for yourself and/or other "magic" people in your life!
On Saturday, December 7th, join us at Haines House of Cards (2514 Leslie Ave, Norwood) for a special guest visit from Richard Osterlund.
Mr. Osterlund will be at Haines from 11 am to 3 pm, providing free performances, lecture information, and magic advise for everyone!
Don't miss it!
Registrations are filling up quickly for a combined S.A.M./I.B.M. "Ladies Night", to be held at Cancun Restaurant on Montgomery Road in Norwood.

Save-the-date for the combined IBM/S.A.M. Banquet in February (Saturday, 2/22/2014) at "The Farm".
Performers include award-winning Spencer Malone, Mike Woodward, and a person to be named from an upcoming youth contest.
Now for the recap of our amazing November Ring Teach-In:
First, Greg Wier demonstrated the "Poker Face" routine, finding the chosen cards with a technique reportedly explained in Al Baker's "Magical Ways and Means" book. Amazing!
Then, Greg demonstrated "Overkill", a great self-working card trick from Paul Harris. Also explained in Michael Amaar's "Easy Card Miracles - volume 2".
Don Hinton performed is award winning "Snowstorm in Pongolia" routine. From Ali Bongo, "Pongolia" is a mythical country that Bongo claimed to come from.
Don explained how to easily make this effect, and emphasized the importance of telling a story that fits with the effect and the audience / occasion.
Don then showed a neat mind-reading effect, where two selected numbers magically add up to his prediction number. A real easy version of a book test force.
Ron Lawson then demonstrated a Max Maven routine where five audience member each select a gemstone from a bag, and Ron "reads" their mind and tells the colors.
Ron then demonstrated David Regal's "Self Evident" card routine, showing an "impossible" ending. Very easy to perform!
Denny Metz performed and explained another self-working mathematical (geometric progression of casting out nines) card routine, simultaneously finding 5 different cards selected by audience members. Amazing!
Denny then demonstrated a very smooth color changing card routine that baffled the audience. Well done!
Finally, Bill Pryor displayed an ESP deck, and matched chosen symbols using Mason's Mark-A-Thon card effect method.
We hope you come to our lectures, workshops, dinners, and other celebrations of good friends and magical times!
