In Memory of Dr. Harold Puff
We are deeply saddened by the news that Dr. Harold Puff, long known as "The Dean of Cincinnati Magicians", passed away on Wednesday, December 14th.
The text of a program for a show honoring Dr. Puff in 1989 says, in part:
[Harold Puff] was born just across the Licking River on January 5, 1916. Harold's interest in magic was sparked in the mid 1920's when he began watching magicians at theaters, vaudeville hauses, and chataqua tent shows... Harold's interest in magic involves such diversified things as the history of magic, collecting, and general stand-up effects which can be adapted to themes. As a member of the Magic Collector's Association for a number of years, Harold attends the Chicago meetings and has what he calls a haphazard accumulation of memorabilia and ephemera. Harold's charm and wit have made him many friend in magic over the years... He enjoys all forms of conjuring and would like it to be recognized as a performing art. To which we all might add a magical "Amen".
