1. ECONOMY: DC 1,000 Opportunities Initiative

The DC 1,000 Opportunities Initiative is modeled after the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative – the nation’s largest employer-led coalition established by the Schultz Foundation.  They plan to connect 1000 residents in communities hardest hit by unemployment and violence to employment and training opportunities over the next 90 days. U street icon and Think Local First DC family member, Ben’s Chili Bowl, might soon get a street name of its very own. D.C. Council is hoping to speed things up by the time the half smoke restaurant hits its 60th anniversary celebration on August 22nd!

Made in DC Showcase at Citi Open: Call for Makers!

The Citi Open Tennis Tournament is proud to be a member of the D.C. community for the past 50 years. During the tournament, businesses across the District have the opportunity to engage guests at a booth on the tournament grounds for FREE! Through the Made in DC Showcase, local businesses and non-profits reach the more than 70,000 attendees and align their brand with a distinct and proud DC identity during one of the tournament sessions on July 29 – August 5 at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center.
